Haven’t really hard this talked about.

It’s ‘too late’ to extend ACA subsidies without major disruptions, some states and lawmakers say

States are worried Congress missed its opportunity to extend enhanced ACA subsidies and lower premiums before consumers start picking plans in a few weeks

Time is quickly running out to shield Obamacare customers from explosive sticker shock.

State insurance officials are warning that the longer Congress waits to extend enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies, which help low- and middle-income people afford premiums, the more difficult it will be to update rates before consumers start shopping for 2026 coverage on Nov. 1.

No need to apologize. Your take was good

I don't have a problem with going for it.

What I have a problem with (and don't take this personally, cause it's got nothing to do with anyone posting anything here) is the absolutely STUPID AND the completely ****ing FRUSTRATING, REPETITIVE IGNORANCE OF NOT ****ING CONTINUiNG to do things that PUT you IN POSITIONS and GIVE YOU OPPORTUNITIES to win these ****ING GAMES.

We didn't drive down the field by running the ball up the middle into a packed-in D in this game, just like we didn't have the chance to beat UGA (WHAT WAS IT?) 2 years ago by just throwing the ball on 3 straight downs, or would have beaten USC that year (or last?) .. We got into that position against Texas by balance and working the outside, stretching them sideline to sideline, and running the ball against UGA.

THEN WE ABANDONED THE GAMEPLAN AND WHAT THEIR D was GIVING us. OUR OC (or someone else) WENT FULL RETREAD AND STUCK THEIR OWN HEAD UP THEIR ***!

HOW MANY games have we abandoned what was working? How many series have we gone to prevent D on "X and LONG" and given up big plays and first downs? How many "X and SHORTs" have we abandoned what was working to try to go for just the sticks?

It's OK to pick up 8 yards on 3rd and 1. It's OK to throw over the top or hit a comeback route on 4th and 1. Why limit your options to plays that are only meant to pick up just what you need, when you've been gaining 3.5 yards per play? It's psychotic to aim for just 1 yard on every "X" and 1. YOU'RE STOPPING YOURSELF SHORT. YOUR LIMITING YOURSELF when the opponent hasn't been. It's the thinking OF A CHILD.

Run your offense. Run your defense. Score until they stop you. Stop making it easy on your opponent. Quit helping them. It reeks of fear and immaturity. It screams of a lack of discipline.

It tells your opponent that YOU don't believe in YOU. It tells them you don't believe you belong in the fight, and that you don't believe your can win.

So SICK of this ****
BTW ... if you ever need to vent LMK. Just warn us! haha

You’ve been on this for a week. UK basketball is not the reason UK football sucks. There are a myriad of reasons for that, but Men’s basketball is not one of them. And yes, UK basketball is profitable.
It has been reported many times over the years that UK basketball is profitable. At one time it was among a handful of college basketball programs that generated a profit. With the current TV contracts and NCAA tourney configuration, there may be more profitable basketball programs than in the past.

OK, so Manning's performance against one of the best defensive teams in the country the week prior was to be discounted? Didn't think so.

The knee jerk reactions from the clueless UK homers who love to see big names fail was to be expected.

Manning rushed 4 times for 34 yards and was 21 of 27 for 166 and 1 TD through the air against OU. Good win.

Not spectacular.

This is the same philosophy they have when it comes to migrants too---as long as it's not their backyard. "BLM! But I want to live as far away from them as possible and don't care what they burned down as long as it's not my stuff!"

This illustrates the left so perfectly ... they RAGE about asylum, but WILL NOT offer their communities. Pathetic people.

Can't. Have to start first.

Those two items are unrelated despite your indicating such by listing one after the other. Fine that you think constant bombing doesn't interfere with elections. I do.

Have to first stop before you can stop. But you know that. Just more of your loving "likes".

Again stringing three unrelated thoughts (if that's what they are) together. No thanks to manning up with you.

Are you ever coherent vs. ranting?
Speaking of being incoherent, did you get your nap today, Elaine?

Bombing and fear don’t stop elections for people who care about democracy. And, many who could conceivably vote could do so remotely, as they are currently refugees. Iraq had an election after its war with us, even though the voters knew they could be victims of terrorism.

Why are you so zealous in being a Zelensky defender (won’t us the word “apologist” again, because I don’t want to see another silly post about “apologies”). 🤦‍♂️

I would really like to see Trump get outside of his DC and donor bubble and do a Townhall and talk to his base because I believe he has clearly lost touch with them. I think he has turned his back on them quite a bit with plenty of decisions that are not America First at all .

This base does not give a F about Argentina for one. We don't want to be involved in other conflicts. We have people who are hurting in this country but he will attack anyone who doesn't 100% go along and then turn around and endorse Lindsey Graham, buddy up with Bill Gates and Zuck, etc. He seems to be oblivious to how the base feels about the covid jab and how the base outside of boomers feel about Israel.

GOP should not feel confident about midterms or 2028 given how things are right now which would be a disaster for everyone when Democrats get back in office.

And that is a midterm killer. The backlash on this isn't just going to affect people on the exchange. It will ripple all throughout the insurance industry as they scramble to make up for the loss of those sweet federal dollars. Everyone is going to pay for this.

What a cluster. It's either quit subsidizing the insurance industry with Gov money and hope the market evens back out to pre Obamacare days, or watch people lose their collective minds and vote Dem when they can't afford health insurance anymore. Thanks again Obama.

If this happens then how the hell does anyone still defend him? He has lost his way. This isn’t an endorsement for anyone on the left as they should never be near power again but this is inexcusable if it happens.
I voted for Trump and I agree this would be bad optics. The Chrisley pardon is still a head scratcher

No one called four runs up the middle in OT. What game were you watching?

Beatle, they had first and goal from the three and I'm pretty sure they tried four times up the middle. I was so effing mad they did not try to go outside.

Beatle, I stand corrected...Looks like they tried to stuff it three times and pass on one. Sorry

There’s plays in there that we would like to look at differently. And again, I would probably start at first-and-goal from the three, and what set we were in, and what we were doing. Play two we tried a good play-action pass and Cutter (Boley) was good. He ad-libbed and got a few yards.” Stoops explained. “They covered it well, the pass play. Play three and play four, I mean, I don’t have regret on that. I don’t. Right or wrong.”

“You watch it on the copy, on the coaches’ copy, we were inches. We were literally two inches from that ball crossing on play three. Inches. His head was across, the ball was probably in his chest.”

That fourth down call was asinine. That was a looooong one yard to start with and Dowdell had just failed spectacularly on third down. I mean, could they not see that Dowdell jumps like a prepubescent girl with weight strapped on her ankles? They should have known about that already from practice. Terrible. Just terrible.

I thought the whole purpose of the ACA was to make insurance affordable.

It absolutely is a killer. They gotta do something to ease the financial burden that Americans are facing. Theyre gonna get smoked. There’s over 25 million people who has these subsidies.

So all of the talk about Ukraine and Israel and ballrooms and all that crap means NOTHING to us at home.

“For nearly three weeks, Democrats have refused to back any funding bill unless it includes an extension of COVID-era Obamacare premium subsidies set to expire at the end of 2025. Democrats have warned of catastrophic healthcare cost increases if the subsidies expire, and have accused Republicans of trying to “gut the healthcare of everyday Americans.”

However, an analysis by the Paragon Health Institute published Tuesday shows that the expiration of these subsidies accounts for only 3.3% of projected 2026 premiums.

“Expiration of the Biden COVID Credits is not the primary driver of skyrocketing ACA [Affordable Care Act] plan premiums and overall unaffordability, according to the insurers themselves,” the institute wrote. “The real drivers are the same structural flaws that have plagued Obamacare since 2014 and rising health care costs.”

The subsidies, known as premium tax credits, were created under the ACA to help people purchase insurance on public exchanges if they lacked other coverage. Initially, these credits were limited to households earning 100% to 400% of the federal poverty level.

However, former President Joe Biden signed two laws — the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act — that removed the upper-income cap and increased the subsidies to cover a higher share of premiums and, in some cases, reduced certain households’ premiums to zero.

Democrats, who passed the subsidy expansions without a single Republican vote, originally set them to expire at the end of 2025. They are now linking the expected premium hikes to the lapse of those very subsidies and faulting Republicans for letting them expire on the timeline Democrats established.

“In my state, a family paying $238 per month for their health insurance right now, thanks to Republicans, they could pay as much as $1,800 per month next year,” Democratic Washington Sen. Patty Murray said during a Democratic leadership press conference shortly before the shutdown began on Oct. 1.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffriesclaimed Tuesday on X that Republicans are raising Americans’ healthcare premiums by thousands per year.

According to Paragon, the 2025 benchmark premium for a typical ACA enrollee — a 50-year-old earning 200% of the federal poverty level — is $8,326. Premiums are projected to rise 20% in 2026 to $9,991. Of the $1,665 increase, just $333, or 3.3% stems from the expiration of the COVID-era subsidies.

The remaining $1,332 of premium growth is due to factors such as higher medical utilization, inflation, healthcare consolidation and rising specialty drug costs, according to Paragon.

Even if the subsidies expire, taxpayers are still expected to cover over 80% of the typical Obamacare enrollee’s premiums, Paragon noted.”
