I didn't expect much from this team but a win against Texas would have semi-salvaged the season. Maybe they can squeak out another 2 or 3 wins. Unlikely.

Four of the unbeatens go down this week. OSU, IU, A&M, GA Tech and BYU are unblemished. Bama has had a hell of a run the past 4 weeks. The cream rises.
2 or 3 more? I like your optimism brother but other than Tn Tech this was probably the best chance to get another W.

Agree. About three weeks ago i posted on the football board he should be our #1 target. Already achieved big things in the sec with similar nil and worse facilities and worse fan support.

I love summrall but you just cant pass up a guy that's already doing it in our league.
It would probably be a good hire...but if I am Clark Lea I see the UK job as a downgrade. He just built up Vandy and it took years...why would he wanna do it again at UK?

Overall. First i was surprised that UK came out of the bye week ready to play. And I liked the game plan. Reminded me a lot of the LSU game with Woodson and Johnson. 12 players made catches. TWELVE. I liked that too.

Unfortunately, running game looked better than it was, esp when McGowan was out. Which he was in OT.

Defense was phenomenal. Completely shut down UT. I was worried Texas would make half-time adjustments, but UK held UT to FOUR 3 and outs. The only other two drives were FGs. The defense was ready.

Now, UT was flat. and at the end of the day ... it is a loss.
First time I really watched Arch Manning. He isnt very good. I can't believe Texas is sticking with him.

Why not throw it at least once from 1st and goal? I swear the offensive coaching is brain dead on this team. It's a miracle that Boley does well despite it.
Did we throw it at all on 1st down last night? Hard to win when you start out 2nd and 15 (hyperbole) every time. Almost like our coaches didn’t realize how good that D-Line was. 3rd and 2 QB sneak 🤣

I understand your sentiment but no way would a Vandy alum who’s getting it done there make what would essentially be a lateral move. JMO, but only an upper tier program like Notre Dame could entice him away from Vandy.

That is the central point about Stoops. It's always the same story: An accumulation of small f***ups, that add up over a game. It's the most CONSISTENT thing ABOUT his coaching.
I'm confident Stoops has never heard of this: The Game Book.

"At some point every Saturday, on college football sidelines around the country, there comes a moment when head coaches must make a game-changing decision.

And when they do, they often rely on the teachings of a single, 87-page volume they all keep on their bookshelves.
It isn’t a manual authored by Bill Walsh or Nick Saban or any of college football’s greatest minds. Nor is it a classic of military strategy like Sun Tzu’s Art of War. This seminal text is a color-coded guide written by a suburban dad from Atlanta who never played a down of competitive football.

Michael McRoberts is a Northwestern graduate in biomedical engineering who spent much of his career designing debt-collection strategies for a credit bureau. But his most impactful work is a compilation of football strategies that he assembled into something called “The Game Book.”

"On every page, McRoberts presents the best course of action in specific situations, from when to go for it on fourth down to late-game clock management. The company he founded, Championship Analytics Inc., now has a client list that includes more than 100 major-college football programs. And his loyal readership counts some of the most successful coaches in the game.
“If you really follow it,” said Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin, who has been using the book for six years, “you’re going to be much more aggressive than the old way of thinking, the one we were all raised around or watched.”"

It turned out that the calculations McRoberts used in his day job could also predict prudent courses of action for football teams. He began building the book, which grew to have a color-coded system readable at a glance: red for punt, yellow for attempt a field goal and green for go.

The book also says when to try for a 2-point conversion, whether to attempt an onside kick or to kick deep and how to manage the two-minute warning—nearly everything outside of Xs and Os."

Iirc he makes 4 mil there. At least until now, vandy didn't see sports as warranting the level of investment it would take to keep him IF he is motivated by money.

Offense played very well especially considering it was a great defense with elite talent.

Much as i loathe bush, ill give him that credit. He did completely fail in OT by trying the exact same stuff that didn't work in the opening drive.

Agree and they did throw it a few times on 1st down. I think that QB sneak (and the subsequent play) and the OT plays just broke me.

and the big loss on the sweep.

Where’s the proof of the sham? Isn’t that what you always scream when the 2020 presidential election steal is brought up on here?
I do say that. And am still waiting for the proof. Now I'll say Putin was elected in a sham. I no more need proof to say that than those that claim Trump won in 2020 w/o proof of such. You want to laugh at me as I do at the 2020 deniers, fine.

We should delete those jet touch passes from the playbook. We're using them to give gadget type guys a touch, but they haven't worked in two years. At best we just get back to the los.

They also need to delete up the middle runs against a defense that shut it down basically the whole game, then try the same up the middle run in overtime
