This thread would be awfully boring if everyone just accepted that $$$$$ are the one and only focus of every politician. I know necks love them some Trump and libs loved them some Obama, but neither would piss on any of us if we were on fire unless we paid them to. Washington might as well be a separate, sovereign nation. Their interests are always first. The rest of us get some scraps in exchange for donations and votes.
These positions are where the majority of the country is. Theoretically Democrats too if they'd actually follow through on their supposed policy. Let's hope they get their foot out of their collective asses and actually do something (they won't).

I think it’s a matter of opinion, and obviously political affiliation. If I had my druthers, we’d have 9 justices in the mold of Kennedy, SDO, Robert’s, etc. I consider the far left coven currently on the SC just as dangerous as I do Alito and Thomas. I have no quarrel with the rest of them.
I did read the rest of your post and I can appreciate that, as long as it also applies to everyone who is contributing to society. I’ve got no issue with removing illegals - it’s a pain in the *** to be here legally as a foreigner, and if I do it, they should all do it too. At the same time, I think some logical exceptions should be made for those who are essential to our workforce. And that number is probably bigger than most of us think.
What were those natives doing to each other before we got here? Did they wake up here randomly one day? Or did they themselves migrate here over many years? So it's not theirs either? Should it be vacant. Just putting your foot on something first makes it yours? I can do that? Did they have borders and a country and a government?
How was every border on the planet formed?
Does the US own the moon? No one else allowed?
Where's the white man's land? Can we all go back to western europe and say this is ours, no one else allowed, we're natives? Why not?

Some states do some things, we have an incredibly patchwork system for all of the above where people fall through the cracks constantly. Housing and healthcare are almost never sufficient and everything comes with so many strings attached not only does it waste time navigating the system but it often disincentives people to improve their position. If working at Walmart means you make enough to stop qualifying for SNAP benefits, what's the point? The solution is just give everyone a flat amount. Remove all the costly bureaucracy and the stigma of government benefits. Everyone gets theirs. The stigma should be for people who fritter it away. If they want to act irresponsibly that's on them then.
Just think about what it would do for rural America. An infusion of cash into all of our dying small towns. The billionaires in NYC don't care about a few extra thousand floating around at the bottom. They deal in Wall Street money. But every grandmother, cousin, and uncle having access to real healthcare? Every rural household having just a bit extra each month? Every homeless person a bed and a roof and no excuse not to take personal responsibility for themselves?
All those federal and state government bureaucrats that do nothing but manage overly complex systems, gone. That sounds a lot more small government than endless monitoring and reporting.
Now we're getting somewhere. The truth. Let's just slide the bar a bit more back towards the people and away from the oligarchs please. We don't need to chop their heads off. Yet.
