Will Calipari win another title at Kentucky?
My answer and reasoning...

No, as the opportunities are dwindling down and the best chance(2015)was a blown chance with the best team I’ve seen at Kentucky!

Experienced teams are taking over college basketball, and youth comes shows in the nitty gritty...

Cal has had great success at UK compared to the rest of the coaching field, aside from titles!

Thoughts?

UK was the "it" school but lost it after the loss to Wisconsin. Uk and Calipari have never regained the luster they had. Besides, how that team lost still boggles the mind.

Yes, I’m certain he will! After all, it appears the playing field in recruiting is making a Market Adjustment. Advantage Kentucky

Easy to say experienced teams have taken over college basketball when there is so much more of them compared to the one and done type programs who can land the top recruits year in and year out. These other coaches with 3 to 4 year players want the same players Cal, K, Self, Roy etc get but they can’t and have to look elsewhere.
And yes I think Cal wins another title at UK

Cal knows the shine is wearing thin. You can talk about winning not mattering and the NBA being the ultimate goal when you go to 4 final fours, 2 title games, and win one in his first 6 years, he could do the nonsense talk and demean the fans all the time. Can't anymore, not winning enough. Taking Sestina shows me a lot about what Cal is thinking going forward. He knows he has to win if he wants to really plant the flag as an all timer.

I think he also realizes he needs more older players with experience....

With OAD coming to an end, shoe companies being scrutinized...yes he will win at least 2 more
Cal is evolving his team's makeup
Going for guys thst should remain over a yr (sga, herro, etc) and graduate players.
It's difficult to have all the stars align to win

No because I am cursed I will never see any of my favorite teams ever win a championship.

Well, only three active coaches have more than one championship so it’s obviously pretty damn tough to get more than one.

Boeheim has been a head coach for 43 years and only has one. Dean Smith needed two unbelievable choke plays to get two. Izzo is struggling to even win a semi final.

It was actually refreshing to hear Izzo after last week opine on really wanting to win a second one for “validation”, instead of giving the usual (and boring)Coach speak on something like that he was brazenly honest..

No denying the mans record. Great Coach, I realize though that at some point when the FF visits pile up the pressure and criticism to go further gets trotted out. Just the nature of sports.

Keep fielding teams like the one this year and stick around 10 years and odds are he gets another one. Hopefully we get a couple of 2012 or 2015 level teams mixed in as well.

OAD is not ending. What’s ending is that kids have to wait a year and will be able to declare straight outta high school. There will still be players who go to school to fast track the nba one and done.

My vote on cal is no. Teams that are winning titles last 4 seasons have 3 and 4 year players with talented freshman and sophomores sprinkled in. Cal isn’t going to change what he does. I really hope cal can prove me wrong

OAD was created cause high school Sr couldn't jump straight to.nba. when Sr can jump straight to.nba, OAD no longer exists. Yes people will come and play a yr and may leave but the original OAD as we know it wI'll dissolve. Cal has been chaging his roster mske up. If you can't see it, sry for your ignorance. Cal has always been at the forefront of recruiting, always ahead of the curb. Now knowing he is finishing his career here will ease some recruits minds bout if he returns or doesnt.
Ego much? Cal has nothing to prove to you, he is at the top of his profession, secured for the rest of his life and a great ambassador of UK. So happy he is UK Coach, expect deep runs into the tourny, with a lot of luck a Monday night

I don’t think OAD goes away. There are going to be a lot of freshman who will want to demonstrate why they are nba talent with the intent of doing it one year. All it does is remove the high end elite talent.

Also I have not seen any evidence of cals recruiting or retention of players changing. Last year was the first we lost a freshman to the second round. Someone mentioned herro and Shai as evidence of his changed philosophy. Lol those guys went OAD or are likely to. What has changed is that instead of top 5 picks our freshman are leaving as late first rounders or even second round. The 2015 team had a couple jrs and couple sophomores. Last year was the youngest ever. Where are things changing? Grad transfer? That’s been done too. Where things change is if cal keeps a guy like herro. Pj had to come back to get in the first rd. If herro returns as a sure fire first rounder then I will admit some change but as of yet status quo.

Herro wasn't considered OAD, same as SGA...they played their way to becoming one. Hami was leaving no matter what same as knox. So sga and Herro were players that Cal had planned on staying more than a yr. Makes sense to me.
If changes occurred I guarantee you would find something else, read one too many of your biased posts, agenda driven in all your responses. It's okay disillusion yourself and remain unhappy bout Cal and UK basketball, me I'm gonna enjoy each and every game each season. Win or lose I am a UK Wildcat, proud member of BBN. And yes, Cal is king wouldn't want any other coach right now

Step 1 is to get back to the final four.

If that doesn't happen in the next 5 years he will retire early and the answer will be no.

But I voted yes. My only worry is that he's immune to self-evaluation and change.

Watched the 2012 title game today. Cats had 34 points after 15 minutes and scored 33 the last 25.

Announcers talked about Cats happy to play half court the whole second half. They also mentioned how Cats lost SEC title game to Vandy just a couple of weeks earlier by trying to sit on a lead down the stretch.

I would say nothing has changed. What about the rest of you?

Cats did hold on to win that 2012 game thanks to some big shots by Lamb and one by Teague. Plus a lot of defense by AD and a big block by MKG

Remember those idiots after 2012 who thought we'd win 4 or 5 in the Cal Era?

I've always maintained that two should be expected, given the talent and resources.

He needs to deliver #9 at some point, otherwise his legacy will go down as the coach who "had all that talent and only one title."

I think he'll get it, but the momentum that we had in the first half of his reign here is pretty much nullified now.

Yeah, it would be pretty cool to win another title without having to have the best OAD player of all time.

We can't count on the "next Davis" leading us anymore. Got to get it done with player retention. That means the "NBA or bust" mentality has to loosen somewhat and make room for longer term retention. That means identifying kids who are cool with being here beyond one season.

Yes, I believe he will get 2 more before he retires. Why? Cal always has us in or close to a final four, so even though it is extremely difficult to win a NC, I just believe Cal will get it done.

Op should get banned for not displaying the votes for who said no, that way they can be publicly shamed
I'll be happy to be publicly shamed for another title.
It would be pure luck to win another title. Cal has had the most talented players in college BB for the past 10 years and only 1 title.

A old man once told me "it's better to be lucky than good."
Cal has been good but not lucky at all.

I think he will win one more. He knocks on the door too many times to not get in again.

He gets too much talent, and will be here long enough, not to get at least one or two more.

Kentucky has won eight titles throughout the 80 years of basketball. It is just really hard to win them. All you can hope for is to be in the mix each year. Which we are most definitely always in the mix. The title odds for next year have been released and UK along with Virginia are the two favorites to win the national title.

And three of those came in just 4 years and two in 3 years. Titles or groups of titles come about every 16 years on average.

First NCAA tournament was '39

Ten years to UK's first group of titles - '48, '49, '51
Seven years to the next championship in '58
Twenty years to the next championship in '78
Nineteen years to the next group of titles - '96, '98
Fourteen years to the next championship in '12
Seven years and counting....
