Sixpack scoop, maybe? Because there is not a whisper of this on any bama site.

If it turns out to be true there will be a LOT of Tide fans turning on Anthony Grant. There are already a good number of them disappointed at what he's produced so far and then Trevor Lacy has already left. If you add Pollard leaving to that mix they will not be happy campers. And also why does it seem that the number of players who are head cases is so much higher in basketball than in any other sports?

I've heard of him leaving Bama for a long time now. I had heard it would be us after Scooba, however. Never heard anything of Mizzou.

When will these guys realize that most of the time their best option is their instate schools? Now, in his case, it may not have been MSU with Stansbury at the helm, but Ole Miss/Kennedy and MSU/Ray are both viable options.

Actually, the more I hear and see about him, the more I realize he would have fit in perfectly with Stansbury's last few teams.

Had dinner at a Phi Delta Kappa banquet this past Tuesday night at MSU-Meridian with a person from Dekalb that's familiar with the situation (knows the family), and they said this same thing. Said that Devonta was disappointed with PT and would indeed be enrolling at EMCC. I didn't pay much attention to it, because it was said in passing.

He's not much different than most of the kids coming out of MS HS basketball these days.

Should Rick Ray try to recruit him? He won't be signing an LOI for Mizzou or anywhere else for months. That's plenty of time to try to get him to listen.

No comment on whether he's overrated, but....

our ceiling is borderline NIT with NCAA's once every 10+ years unless we are willing to accept some "baggage" every now and then, especially if you consider Pollard a player with "baggage."

So let me get this straight,

You are chastizing Ray for not getting random people to come be walk-ons on the basketball team, but you have no interest in him trying to get the #9 player in the nation from his recruiting class? Are you bipolar? He may have disappointed last year, but obviously the talent is there.

One NCAA in ten years is our ceiling? I think even Croom could meet that standard. In a ten year period we should be in the NCAAs about half the time and in the NIT 2-3 times. I can live with a couple of rebuilding years every now and then, but if "borderline NIT with NCAA's once every 10+ years" is our standard then we are a sad, pathetic little program.

I think you are missing the point...

if we consider Pollard a "baggage" guy, then we've maybe had one or two decent teams at MSU the past 30 years that didn't have any "baggage" guys.

you just summed up my reaction to DAWG61's post perfectly. Bipolar indeed.

I talked about walk-ons in December. It's May. We had 8 players in December. We have over 13 now with DeRunnya, Cunningham and the rumored 2 more walk-ons. That's 17 players. Where you sticking Pollard cause his diva *** will most certainly expect/demand a scholarship? Who gets cut and is Pollard and his 3 points a game really worth cutting someone? You can call it bi-polar all you want I call it simple math.

Pollard would probably be the 2nd best player on our team in 2014-15, behind Sword. Maybe the best. At the very least, he'd easily be a starter.

Hell no! Tons of baggage and way overrated imo. Thanks but no thanks.

Way to live up to your stereotype.

He may have baggage, sure. He is a player whose dad died and whose mom seems to have lost the ability to reason and control impulses. When those things happen, I would say baggage is highly likely.
baggage comes with most every elite recruit. It's different types of baggage, but most have something.
Pas long as a player works hard and listens, what difference is it to you or Ray if there is baggage in the player's life? As long as the player hasn't caused the baggage(fight, rape, theft, drugs), then what level-headed person would hold the baggage against that player?

As for him being overrated, maybe. Even if his recruit status is overrated in hindsight, he would still be a top150 recruit. That still too high? Ok, a regional 3* then. That's stupidly low, even you should agree, and yet it would STILL make him a good enough player for us to go after.

Your total lack of understanding college basketball once again amazes me.

We lose two seniors (Steele and Borchert) this coming year. We currently have 1 commit (Dunlap). We're in on some good players too. If we have opportunity to get Elijah staley or Sam logwood, I would pass on pollard unless he really steps up his game. If players are close in talent, ill always choose the hs player over juco.

If we miss on those guys, I'd definitely take pollard though.
