Do people who like Pope and want him to succeed yet think he hasn’t done a good enough job count? Trying to figure out if I’m a Pope basher?
Pope sucks. Look what Stein is doing to UK football when we’ve never been a powerhouse. Now look at Pope and what he’s done to the program when we literally have the greatest history out of everyone.
He’s corny and big time players don’t want to play for him. It is what it is. I don’t fault Pope, I would have taken the job in a heartbeat too. But it was an awful hire and the program will be mid until he is gone.

You’re not at all but I can guarantee that some think you’re a “Pope pumper” because you had the slightest bit of optimism in your post.
After Ky lost to Ala in FB people said Stein was no different than Stoops just goes to show, Pope has had his problems but this is a new team give him a chance.
No you‘re reasonable, I think we all agree he hasn’t done enough. I want to see what he can do when not having the ridiculous injuries that his first two teams havd suffered.

I hope Pope can be successful here but there’s got to be improvements this year or else.
I really want Pope to succeed here but if we have another season of mediocrity and an early exit from the tournament, then we need to make a change as soon as the season ends.

Did you know that Mark Pope is coaching the Kentucky Hoosiers? His team is pick seventh last two years they finished eighth and ninth right on track. Mark Pope has some of you blinded as a bat. Complete fraud! Mark Pope fans heads are gonna explode when I put up these billboards all around Lexington.

He’s far from a high-level coach! Far far away! Like dude needs to be coaching Bellarmine. Scotty Davenport is a better coach than Mark Pope will ever be.
Let us cope. There’s literally nothing the average Kentucky basketball fan can do to make things better. We cannot personally fire Pope or demand he do better. That’s the AD’s job. All we can do is let out our frustrations on platforms like this and other social media websites. If you don’t like it, you can leave.
Sign me up. Here’s where UK basketball under Pope is. His roster building is so poor that losing a backup guard that scored 8 pts/game at Wazzu last year leaves us with a 4 star frosh as THE ONLY backup guard on the roster. This is happening at UK, with one of the biggest (if not the biggest) NIL budgets in the sport. As a lifelong fan, that’s pretty hard to believe.

Yes that's how I feel, I loved year 1 before all of the injuries and think when fully healthy we had an outside shot at a final four but last year even with the injuries it was a disaster from start to finish and in my opinion that can't happen again or he should be fired as soon as it does.

If you stopped being a fan of a personality; you’d realize nobody “hates” Mark Pope. I hate losing at UK, I hate watching Kansas be on our heels for all time wins, I hate seeing Uconn win 2 titles back to back, Duke in final fours, and Kansas winning a title. While UK spins in the mud, with a coach who obviously isn’t up to par. We don’t have the luxury to sit here and let him learn on the job, our rivals are right on our heels.
That sounds about right. The guy cant recruit and will just use injuries as an excuse again this season when we get down double digits again and again against legit teams. We will come back to win a few but lose way more.
He isnt getting it done. Win something that matters this season or move on.
Come on guys, let's just see how the season plays out. And then if it doesn't meet our standards, we can just wait and see how the offseason recruiting goes. And then we shouldn't make any judgments until we see the finished product on the court. And always remember, it's not how the regular season goes, but how we do in March. And if we flame out early, just keep track of how many top 10 wins we had during the regular season.

If Dusty May can go to a middling basketball school like Michigan and win a natty in two years, Todd Golden can do it in 3 years… Pope basically has no excuses. And to his credit, I haven’t really heard him make many excuses, if any. It’s more his staunch supporters that do.
Personally I just don’t think he has the personality for this job. Understanding the assignment and being able to execute it are two different things. I hope I’m wrong, but the clock’s ticking.

In my opinion, he is not the right fit for Kentucky. His tenure at BYU, likely represented the ceiling of his coaching résumé rather than preparation for a program like UK. This position demands a level of recruiting presence and composure that he has not yet demonstrated at this level.
That is no reflection on his intellect or character. He is a bright man who, in my view, would likely have made an excellent physician. Head coach at Kentucky, however, is an entirely different standard.

Piss poor reason for a thread. Your not going to remember the pope bashers here anymore than other post on the board. And get this!!! No one would be bashing pope if he were getting **** done, but he’s not. Most thought his hire was horrible from the start but those same people gave him a chance. I loved the hire but was wrong. Pope has no business coaching here, it’s a waste of everyone’s time, kind of like this thread.
Pope is a quandry - I think those who knows sports and know CBB intimately know he's not it. There is a lot of internal conflict with him. You want him to do well, but know deep down he's highly limited and any doing well will only hold UK back from moving on to a coach that can leverage the program and get fans believing.

The word "negative" is used a lot, but nowhere near as much as "Pope pumpers".
A lot of us are being called pumpers when we say we are taking a wait and see approach in the hope that he wins big in year 3.
I'm assuming he's going to end up with over 10 losses this year and most likely not be top 3 in the SEC and I don't see this as a FF team, so hopefully he proves my assumptions wrong, because if he doesn't, I'm out.
