It’s easy to get caught up on ranking when you forget the fact that we didn’t win **** with these top classes and transfers for years.

The portal is where it’s at and he will find the pieces to put together that will work

I don't think this is true. We obviously won't pull in 4-5 every class like we were but I do think we should be getting 1 sometimes that fits the offense. But yes mainly 4 stars.
As has been mentioned in several places here UConn's players were ranked in the 90s coming out of high school. Internet evaluators aren't very good. I remember over 40 years ago, Parade Magazine and Street & Smith. Those were the big names in evaluating high schoolers. Unless you were Ralph Sampson or something, the players they touted routinely disappeared.

Thinking rankings don't matter at all is silly, they just aren't everything. Rarely are some of the best players on earth unheard of coming out of HS into college.

I mentioned UConn's players ranked in the 90s. And this board has been deafening in rejecting the era of one-and-dones. Lots of college All-Americas last a season in the pros. Or never even get tapped. Players from the first round of the draft disappear before their contracts expire. Sure fire trades for established players turn to ash. Time and again the truism is shown: nobody can foresee the future.

Hope Pope reaches out to Tyrin Lawrence of Vandy. Really good player with good size and quickness.
