KY fans are weird. Lose by a million to Vandy. Not ranked. No juice. Recruiting is a mystery. Yet because they beat Cal you think Pope is suddenly primed to return them to glory.

really good win. Not sure it’s anything else. Don’t let Cal be the bar for how UK views its program.
It's not [most] "KY fans." Most UK fans are happy with the win but troubled by the direction of the program since 2020.

Winning the games we did last year despite the injuries and team being put together in a few weeks, same thing as this year. Pope has shown that he can coach and make adjustments at a high level, once he learns how to motivate his teams and be demanding of his players, it’s over. He’s learning and it’s coming soon!
No concerns about roster construction? No concern about blowout losses? No concerns about ever winning anything of value before UK? No concerns about fist half performance? No concerns that a guy tha has been a head coach for over 10 years is still trying to figure out how to motivate? No concerns about him not having his teams prepared on a consistent basis? I love the optimism.

The bourbon is flowing tonight. I see the video flew over your head. You are acting like an IU fan after that win in 2011. This is your watshot.
What’s it like proclaim that Pope is done and be woefully wrong?? Whats it like to be ready to ambush this board with negative “I told you so” posts like after every loss only to have to scrap them?? Enjoy your cheap Bourbon. Laughing into the night. OUT.

I get it. I follow UK bball and have for 3 decades. And in some ways you can only react to the most recent events.

Cats have Oklahoma and Tenn at home this week. Win both and we’ll see what what the rest of Feb looks like.

We are one game removed from getting our *** handed to us by a team that had lost 3 of 4. Even though I thought we would lose by a gazillion tonight, watching us beat a cal coached team wasn’t surprising as I have watched many cal coached teams lose games they had no business losing. Happy for the team and mark to get the win but we have to start seeing some consistency in this level of play before we can say mark is the man. We haven’t seen that yet or even close.

You mean he overachieved last year with leftover transfers that were assembled in a few weeks. And while this year has been up and down so far, we’ve battled injuries once again and have zero point guards on our team right now.

We’ve won games we had no business winning simply off adjustments made by Pope. His lineups can be a little wonky sometimes but I think he’s forced to sometimes based on injuries, foul trouble or rest.

He’s shown plenty of good signs that he knows what he’s doing, he deserves year 3 without a doubt.

The game tonight is what Pope has always been. At BYU he would upset Kansas and then lose a game against a dog crap team. We were inconsistent last year and the same this year. It was a big win tonight but we should be use to this. Remember beating Duke and Gonzaga and then completely not showing up against Ohio State.

I answered all this in another comment to another comment. Just sit back and watch, I bet I’m right about year 3 being very special.

PS: This is Pope’s 3rd year coaching in a major conference, he’s going to be GREAT here. Give it time.

Going into the year with a single point guard on your team is not good coaching. Just an FYI in case you were not aware.

He’s the man for the job in my opinion! Not just because of tonight but I truly feel we will get ROLLING in year 3!
He can’t recruit. It’s the lifeblood my man. He’s already got some issues with the booster base too. Glad he won this, but highly doubtful he makes it. Would love to be wrong but probably won’t be.

Mark’s days were numbered early, and there are reasons for it. I’m glad he won tonight but barring a huge turnaround he can’t stay here because he’s not a good recruiter and he’s not consistent enough. We’ve never seen this amounts of blowouts at UK.

Program comes before how much we like a coach. Doesn’t matter. Win to the standard at UK, final fours and titles, or you can’t stay. This is an unranked team in year 2, there won’t be a final four. Next year he’s got no recruits and will settle for portal, probably same result. And if it is he’s got to go. Anyone saying otherwise is putting the coach ahead of our tradition and our program.

If you weren’t aware, Lewis decided to be weak and transfer, we should have been set at PG if it went Pope’s way.
Yea and it didn’t go his way and he didn’t land him. What do you mean? He couldn’t land him. He whiffed.

Listen Mark is not going to remain at UK getting blown out half the time. Arkansas might matter that much to you but not the majority. I’m glad for it tonight too, I am. But if you’re telling me constant teams like this are okay with you? Then you’ll have to explain this to me?

What are your expectations here?

I see that you’re not knowledgeable about AL or his dad, it shows. 😆

Mark Pope will win a championship as head coach of Kentucky, mark it down!

So we're f***** indiana now where a regular season game is the determining factor of a season?

No one is saying that a regular season game is the determining factor, it is just a counter to the many threads saying that Ark and Cal were going to blow UK out. They're is no where on this board that the few that are happy with this win comes close to the faint of heart that were predicting a hog blowout. when those negative nancies are wrong they get their panties in a big twist and want to piss on those enjoying a win that the doubters said couldn't happen...hogs by 30!

I honestly can't tell if this thread is tongue in cheek.

I think some UK fans have the memory of a gold fish. Either that or have standards unbefitting of a blue blood -"Right on! Now we'll surely make the tournament this year!"

Aberdeen? Try to keep up small guy. Lewis left UK on April 10th and Aberdeen committed on April 21st. Where do these know nothings come from???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The discussion is about point guards and why we only had one on the roster. Aberdeen is not a point guard. Again another miserable fail on your part. No matter what you want to keep coming back with we had one and only one point guard on the team. What was that again about know nothings? 🤔

The majority of this board, and rightfully so, thought this would be a double digit loss. Hell I thought we would lose by 40. We didn’t and probably played the most complete game of the season. I don’t see that anyone has their panties in a wad over it,ever heard of the phrase pleasantly surprised. But to say the ship has been righted and we can all back off pope and he is the right man for the job afterall seems to be contention between the fanbase. One, two, or even three games is not going to be the deciding factor on the above in either direction. For now the wind is still blowing in the wrong direction with the massive inconsistency on effort and overall team play. But those, like me, who don’t think pope is going to make it, will certainly enjoy the win, and hope like hell that this game serves as a catalyst for a season turn around. Arkansas turned theirs around last year against us, maybe the same just happened for us this year against them.

No one is basking in us getting beat down, if you read you’ll see it’s mostly anger and disappointment, we don’t like Kentucky to suck. Didn’t you predict we wouldn’t lose by 20 to vandy?
We don't suck. We are down 3 kids who were predominantly starters when they played and the team is hanging in and played their best game of the season last night and you are pouting because your two year old whiney baby crying about the team getting blown out last night left egg on your face
