There is no way Cal should have lost that game. He has talent galore, but like lots of UK teams, he refuses to recruit a knock down shooter. To win a championship you have to have a few on your team.
I’d sure feel a little better about Pope if we could get a recruit or two.
You’ve surprised me. Considering you used to have usernames with Cal involved with your name (baller cal for example), I’m glad you figured him out now that he’s gone.

Hes becoming a better coach but he will never bring in the elite talent needed to compete at the highest of levels. Cal was a sitting duck last night. All of their juice was used last year at Rupp. Cal definitely thought pope sucks and didn’t take the game seriously. I don’t think a third is is guaranteed. We could lose 2-3 we shouldn’t and be right back there. When we get to 10 losses reg season it will be evident that pope blew it by not coming out strong on the season. It’s like our typical game pattern matches the season. Start slow then get it together. That doesn’t work for ncaat success. You gotta get that 1 seed.
He badly needs something to call this weekend a win. If he can just get someobody to go nuts or say something crude and get banned, he'd be oh so happy........stay away from him
Last night was D day. The stars were alligned. It was a powder keg waiting to go off. Anybody not broken yet would be broken by sundown or branded with a Scarlet K. UK goes to 14-8, gets blown out by JC and this place would have gone INSANE. All the main players confined to one single rubberroom, ready to go untamed, unbridled !........ 
But Lucy was in control.

I can like and respect Pope, hell, I can love him for what he did here as a player and as a person, but that doesn’t change the fact that he is NOT a coach that should have even been in the discussion, much less given a 3-4x pay raise to come here.
UK is supposed to be the best. We have a below average coach. Great person, not great coach.

Pope loses way too many games to be right for UK. We will end up with 10-12 reg season losses. He’s done a decent job turning it around but the SeC is alot of teams on level or worse than iu. Last years sec was far more tough but we will lose as many games. The right coach for UK in this age has to have a massive ego. That’s how you gain fan support is by being ego driven. Their ego needs to be massive and they have to be hungry. And not just be hungry but show everyone how hungry you are because the ego is so strong. You have to HATE losing. Pope doesn’t hate losing enough. When he loses he thinks of going home to his family and he moves on way too fast. He’s not going to put family aside for UK bb and that’s almost a requirement. 24/7 you gotta be coaching the team. As soon as we are out of ncaat contention the most difficult part starts. Putting a roster together for the next year. Communication. Communication has to be clear concise and it needs to drive male testosterone not creat platitudes, confuse players and fans, we need a coach who pushes our guys to the end of their limits. We need a guy who can battle the media and most of all back it up with winning. We are in trouble with pope. He may just be good enough to keep us 10-12 loss seasons that gets to sweet sixteen. That will be enough for barndouche but not to actual UK bb fans. Pope is massively deficient in so many areas. Beating a mediocre cal lead ark team on the road really is proof of nothing.

Some you would have fired Bobby Hurley at the end of year two. Don't give me that "he has 2 championshis" as you would have fired him after year 2 as he was a nobody then. Those championships would have never happened as you would have ran him off. Heck, his first 4 years were garbage. Pope will probably never see the success of Hurley but Hurly would have never had it because some of you would have fired him.

Whatever. His record that I listed at UCONN is correct. But you are right, his brother was at AZ. State.
Didn’t know Hurley had NIL and the portal. Oh and I also didn’t know Hurley went 0-30 on 5 star freshman. On the recruiting trail. And it’d almost like he showed improvement each season at UCONN.

Really depends. I can see him succeeding long term here — I can also see him exiting stage right after year three. No one knows.
regardless, that was a huge W for me personally on Saturday, as a fan. I was starting to miss Calipari and watch old games and reminisce. so yeah, that game was a helpful and timely reminder that there were many valid reasons we wanted Cal to be replaced. his staff in particular is ridiculous (aside from KP)
Idiot, what do you think the temperature will be if Pope stays here 3 years and hovers around that 10-13 loss range the whole time (which is looking pretty likely at the moment)? Not bad enough to fire, not good enough to get excited about.
10-13 losses? Hot as hell. I think it’s fair to say that’s too high on a regular basis — most fans can acknowledge he will have to do more next year to prove his worth. I believe he absolutely can, doesn’t mean he will.

You won’t, and never will because they would never tolerate it! UK has become a “woke” has been program that has decided to accept mediocrity, and the charge is being led by new, softer side of BBN.
If only he had learned that before coming to UK and being fully prepared. Sign me up for. 5 million dollar job I Can learn as I go.
