Whatever you suck and always did and are one of the reasons you guys will be getting zero Iowa information from me.
hahahahaha. I cant believe how good of friends we are becoming... Just keep that info coming :)

Corby, I dont know who you are at all. You might have the best information in the world. I still think you are absolutely crazy to think JB wouldn't be an instant game changer at Iowa but it isn't that deep. I'll leave the board for a while so you feel safe again feeling superior to all of us nobody's..

Peace out everyone. Lets all be happy that IOWA wrestled above thier seed and got...... fourth!! happy days

So are we seriously happy with "peaking in March" and getting fourth??? No more trash talking about what you know. ( i have no clue who you are or care). You think Iowa had a good year?

Don’t kid yourself. You’ll be giving inside info in no time because you like the attention. It’s your way of getting validation.
Idiots like you ruin it for the rest of us. If you do not like to read his information, just scroll by and shut up. Why anyone would act like an idiot on information we get is beyond me. Ignore guys like this Corby.

He looks small, he looks like he needs to be stronger and he looks like he needs a LOT of work.
His mat awareness was suspect at times.
He has a lot of potential, but looks to me like he needs another year.

Longtime lurker here. I consider myself fairly objective, and it seems clear to me that the majority of the problem does not lie with MSU or Corby. Here’s an example of the kind of post that shows who the true schmucks are.

Really lmfao. Objective means taking stock without bias and I don't see it from either msu or corby on a regular basis. I for one have no issues with the information corby or msu provide thats never been the issue. It's the way they constantly argue that they above all others know everything on an OPINION board. Keep lurking lol

To be fair, there are plenty of topics that people on here know better than me. I simply go full out against the rabid Anti-Brands squad, most PSU fans on here that are really only here to belittle Iowa and play at being superior, simply due to being a fan of a better team and those too soft to ignore or at least not get overly bothered by READING things that go against their agenda, i.e "soft people".....

My arguments are solely with the argument made by a person and NOT with the person their self. I try very hard not to get personal and directly insult. In fact, I am pretty sure most of us would get along very well hanging out and watching wrestling. I completely understand that fan is a derivative of fanatic and most on here let their passion override rational thought. I focus on those on 1 end of an extreme and that admittedly creates the most fireworks because they are already so fired up to be at that extreme to begin with.

If you actually read, I have said over and over again that I COMPLETELY understand wanting better than 4th. That has never been the issue. My argument has been with the "If you aren't 1st you are last crowd" and those that don't realize how good of a run Brands has actually had. There is a middle ground that I am happy to come to. The issue I am making sure to point out is that most, if not all, of those that I rub the wrong way aren't willing to even ackowledge that middle ground let alone come to it willingly....

Yeah, really an unknown. Big leap from dominating 99% of your opponents to college '97. Seems the talent is there, he just has to keep showing up.

Harvey is going to need to take a major jump if we plan on sending him out there next year.
I think he will surprise. As a whole, 197 isn't the most challenging weight class to compete in most years. I think he finished the year 17-4 and I think he had a bonus rate north of 75%. In his 4 losses, the only one where he wasn't really in it was against Joey Novak and he's a 2x AA.

Good call. Like I said, not 100% accurate. /will update after more feedback.

putting the ol' AI to work

How his eligibility breaks down

  • 2020–21 at Oklahoma State was the COVID year, which the NCAA did not charge against any athlete’s eligibility, so that season is essentially “free.”
  • 2021–22 at Oklahoma State was cut short by his January 2022 car accident; he is seeking a medical redshirt for that year, which would preserve that season of eligibility.
  • He did not compete for any college program in 2022–23 or 2023–24, and is treating one of those as a standard redshirt and one as an Olympic redshirt, both of which can preserve eligibility when properly approved.
  • He returned to competition at Cal State Bakersfield in 2024–25, placed third at NCAAs at 197, and that season clearly counts as one used year of eligibility.
Current remaining eligibility

  • Trackers and transfer reports list him as having two years of eligibility remaining, potentially three if the NCAA grants all waivers as he expects (especially the medical redshirt for 2021–22).
  • That combination (free COVID year, medical redshirt request, redshirt, Olympic redshirt, and only two seasons actually wrestled so far) is why, despite being in college since 2020–21, he can still wrestle multiple more NCAA seasons.

Don’t believe you’re right on this. He entered college post Covid season. He just finished his 4th season with the first being a redshirt. Should only have 1 left. Can’t wrestle and still take an Olympic redshirt. Covid he missed.

I'll do some more digging, but at least after last year Flo listed him as having 2 possibly 3 years, so 1 possibly 2 after this.

2020-2021 is the year no one burned a year of eligibility by participating. Doesn't count for anyone.

This year and last year count as seasons for sure, so that's 2/4.

Next year is 3/4.

He's trying to get 2021-2022 back...well he wrestled on 9 participation dates with the last being 1/23, fairly late in the season. I have a hard time believing the NCAA will grant him that given how much/when he participated both on the mat and in injuring himself (LOL) that year. But these days...never know.

In short...AI was right.

I think this is off a hair just with how the NCAA handles redshirt rules. Things get messy so I'm going to try to write it out by year with eligibility so that it makes sense.

2020-21-True Frosh-Covid Year doesn't hurt eligibility
2021-22-True Frosh-season cut short, likely qualifies for Medical*
2022-23-rFR-attempted regular redshirt*
2023-24-rSO-Olympic Redshirt
2024-25-rSO-Cal State-Bakersfield
2025-26-rJR-Nebraska
2026-27-rSR

*I don't think that he actually qualifies for a medical redshirt in 2021-22 due to the number of matches he wrestled. I think he crossed the 30% threshold for a med-redshirt even if they lump some of those dates together for the percentages. I also don't think it will matter one way or the other. The NCAA gives you a year back of eligibility for a standard redshirt or a medical hardship, but not both. I'm sure somewhere that someone in some sport has gotten a waiver for having both, but I can't think of one off the top of my head. The benefit to a medical hardship waiver is that if you lose a second season due to medical, they will often give you a waiver to get one back. So he sat out three years and will either qualify for the Oly redshirt and a medical or the Oly redshirt and a standard redshirt, but he won't qualify for all 3.

There is exactly one way that I can think of that doesn't involve court a court intervening on his behalf is if there is enough medical documentation out there from late 2022 that could potentially say that he was not fully recovered and unable to wrestle the 2022-23 academic year. That's a tough hill to climb and it only works if by some chance they choose to grant the medical hardship waiver for 2021-22. In that very specific set of circumstances, it would go something like this:

2021-21-True Frosh-Covid
2021-22-True Frosh-medical hardship waiver 1
2022-23-rFR-medical hardship waiver 2
2023-24-rFR-Olympic redshirt waiver
2024-25-rFR-Cal State-Bakersfield
2025-26-rSO-Nebraska
2026-27-rJR-
2027-28-rSR-

@Corby2, So you don't do podcasts any longer? I watched one you were part of from a few years back on BASCHAMANIA but didn't find anything from the past couple years, though must admit I just did a cursory search. I was just curious.
I haven't done anything in probably 2 years. Have had discussions about doing something next year but nothing is set in stone.

Hope you come back into the pod/media space, I enjoyed the insight and inside knowledge you had on the show with Willie. Also, I’m a Chicago guy, so it’s always great to hear you reference the Chicagoland area and your connections there.
