Initially it was a 2-3 week timeline post-surgery. I never saw 6-7 weeks, but I don't live on here or other KY sites to keep up.
we already do have nice things coming next year. It’s not an unexpected roller coaster in the NIL-negotiation era. Let’s give it a beat and see what happens. Still might be UK

UNC will make tournament as ACC is trash this year and Hubert Davis will still be the coach if UNC makes tournament. So I will not be surprised if Wilson commits to UNC but still gives UK the edge as of now

I’d love to get the commitment just to have some good news after the crap show in Athens. Being completely honest though, I’m not even certain Wilson is the best option for us next year at PF. You really would be better to have a really good portal four. That’s not to say I don’t want him and I expect him to go to UK based on what I’ve heard with KSR lately but is a freshman OAD who is not a dominant offensive player going to be better than a portal PF who can be hand selected based on fit?
We need at least 4 or 5 portal guys. Why not get an experienced sure fire 4 man out of the portal that has more strength, experience and proven ability on our level? We have struggles even with 10 old, talented and experienced guys. We are already going to have at least three sophomores and three freshmen, half the roster, as very inexperienced and young. IMO we need a proven sledgehammer at the five to go with Garrison, a proven 4 that can shoot, score and rebound and a proven 3 that can score like crazy and knows how to play defense and rebound.
Get a PG like butler, a physical hybrid 3/4 who is physical, a shooter like brea, and maybe somebody else
If Wilson is indeed determined to be OAD regardless of whether or not he is a projected 1st round NBA draft pick (and I don't know that to be the case), then I wouldn't spend too much of the NIL budget on him. But I do like him as the backup PF playing maybe 18 min. or so a game. He's also an intelligent kid, which doesn't hurt. Also, my guess is he may not be a 1st round draft pick due to perceived risk that his skills might not catch up to his athleticism quick enough.
Cal doesn't have anything to do with the ask kicking we took Tuesday night, but if it makes you feel better, keep bringing him back in to discussions.
In the past I saw a lot of images of him in Carolina blue (not official team gear - just the color). Made me wonder if he might not have been a UNC fan growing up. But maybe a team or two he played for had pale blue as its color and that's why I saw that.
Do you think any team that gets a top five star plus player doesn't throw a bag at them. If he comes to Lexington, trust me, we threw a bag at him. That is 2025 - 2026 life in the recruiting highway. It's the new life. I'm not joking, it is fact.
Agreed but when that asking price gets high I say Pope should stop pursuing. Wilson is a likely OAD and we could probably get a better one year player from the portal and another rotation player at the price of a top freshman.
Maybe it’s a good thing. These players they go against are men who are physical. Might be better off getting a strong transfer over some skinny freshman.

Look I want this kid bad, but I'll just be happy either way when all the drama is over, hopefully he sticks to committing this month and doesn't push it back, that way at the very least we'll not have to see this back and forth any longer.

Yep, I'm a bird-in-the-hand type so I want Wilson just because we don't know the ultimate portal options and who we will ultimately get. But, it might end up better in the end if we miss on Wilson and land a portal stud.
