That conversation probably did happen to an extent. Here is the story I heardthatmakes a little more sense as long as you are not an Auburn fan...<div>
<div>The kid needs 8 credits to graduate. The high school he is at now is not set up to get him enough credits (only 6) because of how the class schedule works. Foley High School is on a different block system and will allow a kid to earn up to 8 credits. So Bama steered him there. It's not a "go here, cuz they are gonna give you all As"situation. Although that will probably happen too.</div><div>
</div><div>My mom was a teacher at Cleveland High and East Side. She said a lot of freshman screw themselves because they take way too few classes their freshman year. They end up with a maxed class load their senior year because they are scrambling to meet the required core classes you need to graduate. A lot of times when you hear the phrase "they have a lot of work to do in the classroom", this is the issue.

So he wasn't even from there, and then he transferred again to McGill Toolen in Mobile. So it's not like his high school career was at one place and he was uprooted his senior year.

I had no idea, until now, that Fluker was a Katrina transplant.

He did start out at McGill at a freshman and sophomore, but he transferred to Biloxi for his junior year and then back to Foley just after the Bama commitment. He committed to Bama in Nov of 2007 and transferred to Foley at the end of that semester.

Foley's coach Watson had coached with the Bama coach (now accused of steering Paige to Foley) at Hoover.

There may be no violation in the eyes of the NCAA, but are you not connecting the dots?

But are we that surprised that an Alabama high school is steering kids to 'Bama and fixing grades?

I mean Quintorris Lopez Jones got eligible at Foley, so I'm not surprised.

From a Bama Board:

Paige needs 7 core classes to qualify plus the ACT. The maximum number of core classes he could take at Washington High in Pensacola is 6 but Baldwin County schools are on the block system so he could actually take 7 or 8 core classes by May 2013. The officials at Washington High were asked if they had a plan to help him take extra courses and they said no. At some point, the family was told if there were no options at Washington, transferring to a Baldwin County school would at least give him a chance to dig out of the hole. Foley was never mentioned specifically, just Baldwin County. It just so happens that Foley is the closest school to Pensacola.

Also from a Tide Board (and a more likely explanation of what is "really" going on):

The new head coach at Washington told Paige that they could figure out a way to help Paige academically "if" Paige would de-commit and give LSU a second look.

in fact I have trouble reading threads you post in. And for an OM guy you're a decent poster.

It's tongue girl. It freaks me out.

We all know that very suspicious crap goes on over in the State of Alabama when it comes to UA and Auburn football. What they need to worry about is some rich Penn St, USC or OSU boosterbeing pissed off and hire PI's to investigate for the dirty crap. USC and OSU getting hammer tells me that Alabama and Auburn is not truly above the fray. I think the NCAA is trying to get college football back under control and the past four years have proved they are willing to pull the hammer down on traditional football powers.
