With the game probably finishing after 11pm what are some options for Post Game/New Year's Celebration? The Orange Bowl fan site has the Fort Lauderdale thing but is it realistic to get from the game to Fort Lauderdale before midnight? We'll be in MSU gear so the "Great Gatsby" party is out. Just trying to find out what other options are out there.

It won't be worth it to do anything in my opinion. The game will get over late and traffic will be terrible I'm sure

game starts at 8 pm local time. ga tech offense allows the clock to run. i think we are all out by 10:30. have the helicopter take you where you wanna go.

i'm not sure what i'm doing yet. logistics surrounding the game are still in the air. we are driving, but the family is foregoing the game.

Sorry to hijack the thread but.....

This is another reason why I think football would be ultimately improved by reducing the game clock to say 5 minute quarters (or whatever) and stopping the clock between every play. Radical idea I know but it would still allow teams to play up tempo if they want or take their time if they want but would force teams to play football instead employing a strategy of killing the clock. No more 'victory formation' either. Line it up and play for an entire game. Two minute offense? Try 30 second offense and your entire playbook at your disposal. When you stop and think about it football is about the only sport I know of that most of the clock is consumed when the game is not being played and stops the clock arbitrarily depending on the outcome of the play. Pass dropped at the LOS, stop the clock. Completed pass 60 yards downfield, let 'er run (in pro). Forward progress deemed stopped in-bounds but runner is forced 30 feet out of bounds, run it. Tackled right on the white, stop it.

I dunno, maybe I am all wet here and it would be a terrible idea. I would just like to see a few games played like that to see how it would flow.

Kickoff time has been moved to 7:30 CT.... I think.

I can't find a link now, but yesterday when I was on the Orange Bowl site they had a a ticker at the top of the page indicating the change. The countdown to kickoff is now counting down to 7:30 CT so maybe I wasn't just seeing things.

No major bowl is ever going to take less than 3-1/2 hours. Those things make a CBS 2:30 SEC game look fast-paced.

ESPN is saying 8 ET. I'm not sure if that means coverage begins at 8 ET and actual kickoff will be closer to 8:30 ET / 7:30 CT. Seems like that is what usually happens with these large bowl games.

Actual kick time was my question as well. If it's the broadcast that comes on at 8pm we'll still be in the stadium watching the Dawgs tote the trophy around when the ball drops.

Not to mention protracted halftime shows, and more advertisements for the television audience.

Don't know if they advertise on their video boards or not ... but we could take the Mercedes video with us, and the "downtown Louis-vuuuuuul" one to make folks feel at home ....

On a more serious note, I'm going to be disappointed if I don't get at least one opportunity to sing Don't Stop Believin' on New Year's Eve with thousands of my closest friends.

The official game time has been changed to 7:30 EASTERN. I assume because of New Years Eve.

As an "edit" to this post. The game time HAS been changed but there are conflicting times on the Orange Bowl site as to whether the game is now at 7:30 or 8:30.

I assume if it has been changed it was changed to 8:30 because my ticket (FedEx arrived on Wednesday) says 7:30.

ETA: I'm just going back to the hotel and crashing after the game - early flight the next morning and don't want a divorce (and I have been to Miami several times).

The original time was for sure 8 Eastern, so if your ticket says 7:30 THAT may be the change.
