First off, I know it's Rutgers and they suck.

That being said, Kalu, Chris Jones out and Williams getting tossed early and the defense still played really well. Gifford is my favorite player. Man he works.

Offensively, Lee is dumb. He was playing without Morgan and Williams (still). But no excuses for his picks. The RBs ran well. The o-line did pretty well. Jamies, from what I saw, played pretty well. Same with Decker. Knevel might not have a spot anymore. Possibly same for Conrad?

Happy for the guy's in a sad way. Really hope they can get better, but afraid more injuries are coming and it usually gets worse (in that aspect) as the season goes on. Players seem happy in almost a I don't give a crap way and I am a little afraid they are going to start getting back into that us against the fans mentality.
My main thought after the game though is still, There has got to be a point where coach opens that qb battle back up or sits Lee if it continues. Not to say it would be better, because it may very well be worse. But because at some point it becomes the right thing to do.

I don't think we looked that good to be honest. For the players, I'm glad they won the game. It's been a difficult week for them. But let's not kid ourselves. It's going to be a long season.

Yep happy we won for the players, the defense did step up but let's face it Rutgers has a bad offense and the QB is not very good. Still the defense is better and better when we needed them the most

The offense - pretty pathetic that it took Langsdorf staring at his bus ticket out of town before he decided the running game is important and Ozigo was the best back to gain yards on the ground. Oline still struggled and Lee honestly has lost it if he ever had it. I lame Langsdorf for putting too much on his shoulders to soon. At this point we need to try the backups and see how they do.

Let's keep in mind we were in a dogfight with a team at home that has not won a conference game in 14 tries

Go root for bama, we don't need people pretending to like Nebraska and rooting for a loss.

The B1G post game talk liked Tanner under center and the pounding running game. And of course, the great defense.
This is gonna have to be our identity from here on out.
Lee needs to be a manager, thing more.
And we have to muddy up games, try to eat clock and keep it close and hopefully break through if our defense holds up.

Short of an injury, I doubt we see any QB not named "Lee" get any meaningful time this year.

Riley doesn't have time to take the lumps you often get when playing an inexperienced QB.

If it were year 1? Sure. In year 3 when the program has moved backwards and your AD just got canned?

Only if Riley is planning on not returning next season.

The problem here is our OL is still probably a liability and can be dominated. Riley's biggest job is to find a way to get our stable of RBs into a position to be successful. Bryant has some speed and and the other guys are straight ahead maulers with a little wiggle.

I would be curious to hear what people think about the offensive philosophy for the rest of the year. From my perspective, with an immobile QB and WR that don't demand double teams, we are going to struggle against good defenses.

The defense is looking better but let's wait and see how they do against good QB play and better skill positions. GBR

We won't light up the scoreboard.
I feel our OLines greatest weakness is in pass protection. Slow developing run plays are not our forte. We can't sustain blocks very long. We couldn't even run a counter on 2nd and 2 with ozigbo.
But we do have success getting creative with quick hitters that sometimes popped for big carries. Let the line run man on plays and take the defender where he wants to go and rb either hits the middle or bounces outside.
Lee needs to be under center working play action passes and a deep ball or two now and again that can't hurt you, especially in 2nd and short situations.
Obviously this isn't always the way they should do it but I feel it needs to be their identity on O. Might give Lee more confidence, too. I dunno...

Langs needs to work the offensive game plan through the run and work play action off of it. And as others have posted, Lee needs to manage the game. Injuries all around have resulted in a lot of guys playing, and is building depth, esp on D. Even though it looked far from reality, we will earn wins this year with our D. The less "creative" Lee is, the better.

It's comical how everyone is coming down on Lee. Predictable play calling, horrible line, receivers dropping passes (he put one on the money late in the first half that was an NFL calibur pass, but was dropped). When given time, Lee is solid. Perfect, not a chance. No one gives him an ounce of credit but places all the blame.

When you don't have enough time, you play to the next down or series. Chuck it or eat it.

One thing is for sure...either one of these teams playing right now (Iowa and Penn State) would stomp us by at least 4 TDs right now. I'm tired of seeing our team get embarrassed, and it's gong to happen many times this year if this coaching staff doesn't get their **** together. They will also get fired at the end of the year unless we improve dramatically.

There are no games left that you can pencil in as a win. It's unlikely NU goes winless the rest of the way, but it could happen. NU is a very bad football team. Illinois, NW, MInnesota, Purdue - all look at the Nebraska game as one they should win. Wisconsin, OSU, PSU, and Iowa all look at the Nebraska game as one that they WILL win. .

I'm glad we won, it is better than losing. The performance didn't give me much hope for winning the Division though. Guess we'll see where it goes.

solid is not the word I would use to describe TL. 3rd and long is a dangerous down when he's putting it up.
I question whether "the whisperer " has coached him at all, for an experienced QB in this system for two years who has according to many has NFL talent. He looks lost, throws a wildly inaccurate ball has the jitters in the pocket and is afraid to run

Sorry after all the hype this position is a disaster

I was at the game, so I haven't seen the replays. The pick six looked like a two man route, could be wrong.

Never said he was perfect, but to call him dumb is outlandish. The guy is constantly behind the sticks because of poor play calling and even worse execution. Perhaps in the midst of your criticism, you give him some credit too.
