Potential Sha Replacements?

Missing the tournament four straight years doesn’t qualify as mediocrity. Making the NCAA Tournament as an 8, 9, or 10 seed and getting bounced in Round One more often than not does. Hope those that killed the guy before Sha can now look back and realize just how good we had it. This is awful.

Why does everything have to be a comparison between Willard and Sha. We were told this move was going to move the program forward. 4 years with no tournament is not moving the program forward. End of sentence. End of story. No comparison needed.

This is a ridiculous post. We can’t come close to pay him to leave. Trust/hope he figures it out

However in a dream world I’d like Chris Mooney

I wanted him when we were looking for Willard

In order to “move the program forward” (your words), we need something to move forward from. Wouldn’t that something be the previous coach?

The program had a starting point of where Sha took over 6 NCAA caliber teams in 7 years. Is it moving forward? No. No need to tell people they need to realize how good it was. Maybe it wasn’t good. But this is just undeniably worse. Compare where the program was vs is. Not this coach is better or worse. I could think Sha’s doing a better job than Willard but who gives a **** if the program is going backwards.

This board constantly goes Willard vs Sha, enough is enough it becomes stupid like people are rooting for Sha to fail or they just want to say see I told you Sha was best for this program. That’s just childish

Not happening. NIL is a much tougher environment that what willard had. Prior to willard we were in a brutal conference. Sha is dying to make it work. Hell get a min 2 more years easily or youll deal w another coach using us as a stepping stone

Such a dumb argument. People act like teams like Duke would have taken our Whitehead Delgado Powell but they wouldn’t have tried to take away Hart, Brunson, etc. people act like Macura blueitt and the others I forget at X wouldn’t have been taken away.

Nobody here is rooting for Sha to fail. We all want the same thing— a winning program.

I wonder if our friends from Rutgers would give a good referral to Steve Pikiell?? Wonder if he would be more successful in the smaller BigEast?? What if Sha was the coach at Rutgers? What would that look like?

It's not "either/or". Most of us including Kevin himself realized he had reached his ceiling here and it was time to part ways. We can appreciate all the good things he did to rehabilitate this program to some level of respectability, but he had his shortcomings and it was time for him to move on.

The fact that Sha has been somewhere between abysmal and below average does not mean we need to set the Willard years as our barometer for success. He too was at best, somewhere between average and above average. That should not be anyone's goal. If it is, then that itself is the problem.

As much as I hate many things about Sha (his offense, his general demeanor, his unprofessional speaking/presentation of himself and the university, his inability to adapt, ineptitude with the media, donors, etc,), and as skeptical as I am that he will ever figure it out here, I have to agree with this.

We are in a unique situation with an ex player who is our special "son" who does bleed blue and wants to be here, and we have to give him a chance to see what he can do now that he finally has comparable resources for NIL as to what other BE programs have. Although this game was a letdown of epic proportions, and his coaching flaws are visible and obvious to anyone with half a brain cell, it is also equally obvious that this season HAS IMPROVED DRAMATICALLY and you could argue the program's trajectory is headed in the right direction. You could also argue last season was so abysmal there was nowhere to go BUT up.

Regardless, we are in the top half of the Big East (granted a weak BE) but the fact is we are firmly in 5th place. And we were a play or two away from having wins over Uconn, at Creighton, and firmly in control against SJU. I'm trying my hardest to be well balanced here, but the fact is (and rightly so) Sha IS going to get a few more years to show what he can do now that we have NIL money. In that sense, this was really his "Year 1."

Even Al Maguire couldn't have competed with what we were providing previously. If anyone deserves this chance its our "favorite son" although I feel like he needs a few spankings in some areas

Shaheen is getting 2 or 3 more years at least. Weve got a guy that wants to die here. Give him the $ and lets see what happens the next 2 or 3 yrs. If hes got 8-10M then theres no excuse
But no big lucrative contract extensions during that time short of multi-year proven success. We need to be able to get off this Sha train if there's no success in that timeframe.

Let’s hear ‘em. Grant B? Andy Toole? Mitch Henderson? Mark Bryant? Adrian Griffin?

Would rather take a lottery ticket on future than know we are confined to mediocrity.
I like Sha but if he left either St. Louis coach or Bobby Hurley ( which would be entertaining).

Sha needs to abandon the defense only mentality. Defense works when u have a decent offense at least. Time to focus on more offense and coach the defense
He said he watched a lot of offense over the summer and worked on getting guys who could shoot from deep. In McCray, Williams and Simpkins he brought in decent 3 point shooters. It worked for awhile.

I said it PIKE AND COOLEY >>>>>>>>>>>> the one shot wonder Sha. IDC if Cooley gets fired I have so much faith he would take us to Willard levels and even a bit better. This guy got Provdence to be respectable for years and would've if he didn't have questionable character. Issue is Sha arguably has same issued with many coaches like Hurley and Pitino. Cooley would do good redemption here at SH. We know what Sha will do even if we make the tourney but I don't even know if he has even has it. I will only get in his good obviously when he gets us to the tourney but he lost any hope after that CRIME last night.

Yayyy 5th place while the worst Creighton team in years is again better than us (pathetically like always). Why should we be happy. We have been TERRIBLE for talent we have since BE play.

Cause Sha was the hottest coach at the time and if we didnt get him, it would have been a disaster of blaney-like proportions.
That’s why we extended him in 24? Only at SHU could you get an extension for being in the Not Invited Tournament. 6 year deal in 22 would have a reasonable buyout by now. Extension and kiss that baby goodbye.

We can only hope Holloway does us all a favor and leaves for another job. But that would require some other school to be foolish enough to hire him. That would be the best outcome because we all know small time Seton Hall isn't going to do anything.
