Now is not the time for Shaheen to be playing the leverage game. Fine to do that when our NIL was a laughingstock and he needed help, but Shaheen’s main appeal (at least to me) is the prospect of him staying long term. If he’s going to do the Kevin Willard song and dance every offseason, what’s the point? The results aren’t good enough for that.

Would make a nice plot of land for Seton Hall's own basketball gym! Instead of not selling out a must-win game against DePaul at 8:00pm on a Wednesday in Newark, they can do the same in Livingston.
Great idea I love it but would the school actually think this big? I doubt it. I'm all in though!

I’m a Sha fan and want him to succeed. Pre-NIL and the chaos now that is CBB, there was also something appealing about having one of our own that called this his dream job and would be here for a long time.

Everything is so transient now, I really am ambivalent on who the coach is. I watch the games as a fan, hoping for wins and quality basketball. Get a coach that can do that. Very little buzz in HS recruiting; a coach that doesn’t provide access; majority of the roster turning over. If the program can find the money to compete, good for them. I’m not losing any sleep if they don’t.

This query seems all the more urgent with ESPN telling us that Sha is apparently among the “High-profile candidates to keep an eye on”
He has job security here that he will never have any other place -- especially if he isn't winning big and making tournaments.

He's buried pretty far down in that article. Maybe he should have taken that Louisville job when he had the chance.
The coaches were listed in alphabetical order by school. S is pretty far down the list…
That being said I doubt he gives up the security he has here.

Sha wanted better players but we cant afford it, so this is what we have. Can we get to 10M if so, lets see what he can do with it before wanting to fire him.

In response to that ESPN article - If he’s angling for more NIL money, kudos to him. If he wants a pay bump I’d tell him no. Either way I’d ask him what his plan is to get the offense ranked in the top 100. If I was the AD I would tell him to find someone he likes to run his offense.

I wouldn’t say Sha’s seat should be hot, I will say his teams are so bad offensively something needs to give on that side of the ball. A 4 year sample size along with his St. Peter’s tells a story - a bad one - about his teams offensively.

There are good coaches out there who would love to step up into the Big East.

0.0% shot he is bringing someone in to run an offense

Willingly? Yeah I agree. Which is a shame because he can be a really good HC if he delegated on that side of things. As is I think you’re seeing the ceiling of this program until something changes there.

Not sure what’s really wow with what I said. You can’t keep giving him pay bumps when he’s not making the tournament. In 2026 offense really matters and he’s proven to be a mediocre coach on that end. Not a mediocre coach overall, just offensively. Some here place that blame squarely on talent. I don’t.

Again, I’m not running him out of town but a strong AD would be pushing for changes there at some point. Wanna really dangle a carrot? Offer a pay bump but tell him he needs to let someone else run the offense.
