Only 4 more weeks and its playoff time! How does hosting work for the State Semifinals this year? Does the team with the highest Power Points host or does it alternate regions from year to year?

Correct. The regions use to rotate many years ago, but it's been highest power ranking as the host for a long time now
Yeah i remember when they used to rotate. I didn't like that, because many times the better team had to travel. Heck, I even remember in 2007, King William was 7-5 and hosted 12-0 Gretna, with Nick Miller. KW had the home field advantage, but that Gretna team won 42-0. Probably one of the best Class 2 teams I've ever seen. The following week they beat Gate City, 52-0 in the state championship

I remember that Gretna team. Everyone was predicting that Essex will be playing Gretna in that state semi but Essex got upset by King William in the Region A championship game the week before. Miller & Barksdale were a highlight reel waiting to happen.

Yeah KW started out 1-5 that season, then called up Lewis Redman from the jv team, and they got really hot. If I'm not mistaken, Essex was 12-0 coming into that game and KW was 7-5. Little did anyone know at the time, but that Gretna game turned out to be the last game that Roger Brookes would coach in his 35 years at KW.

Rodman was a freshman for KW, and Miller was a freshman for Gretna. Probably not every day that you see two freshmen QBs leading their teams into a state semifinal matchup. Redman still holds some KW records and Region records for career passing yards, but Nick Miller was an extremely special player to watch in high school, and like I mentioned above, that Gretna team was one of the best I've ever seen at the 2A level
