Powhatan Names New Coach

Powhatan announced this morning that Mike Henderson will be their next head coach. Spent 7 seasons at Douglas Freeman where he was 53-24, made the playoffs in 5 of his 7 seasons going 2-5.

Great hire for Powhatan. Henderson has lived in the community for years and I think his wife is the basketball coach there. He coached at Blessed Sacrament(also in Powhatan) for many years and won a string of state titles and developed a lot of kids who played at a high level in college. Powhatan won't have to worry about looking for a football coach for another 15-20 years. I don't envy him having to move into the Dominion District though. Big difference from having to play in the Jefferson or old Southside districts.
