Obviously, hope he heals fully and can play pro. Would love for him to return. That aside, the improved play of the cats lately(yes towns, twins, booker), has been due to Lyles. Would he have emerged or developed as much with Poy playing (i realize poy is a physical freak stud- full court run blocks, huge follow ups)? But, do we have, i feel, a peaking(at least this year) Lyles without the aforementioned Poy injury? No negativity intended, wonder if the cats would be even more dominant, etc. if Alex was playing.

No, he would not have emerged quite as much, and Lyles and Booker have played a lot more due to Poy's unfortunate injury.

Does anyone know if Poy participated in Senior Day today? I have not heard he did so assume no, but with him on pace to graduate I figured he might. I don't want to read too much into that, but if he did not in fact participate, could mean he is leaning towards returning. It also could just be me hoping to have him back.

Alex was our best perimeter defender. And a great garbage guy. But Lyles has that typical pro small forward game that works really well with our offense. Has length to rebound and defend, but can also make that midrange jumper that adds a ton to our offense. He is a great player and he's going to make millions next year.

I'd like to see him return and grab some of those defensive rebounds left out there at times.

I honestly think we drop one or two games if we had Poy. Blast a way but our offense has been much better.

I'm secretly hoping he is well enough to come in for a few minutes in the championship game, of like DA, for some technical free throws (but in a win). I know he is part of the team, and I know he knows that, but I'm sure it would mean a lot to him to get to suit up and hit the floor, if even just for a minute or two. IF we win this thing it will be historic, and I don't want him to feel like he was "part of the team" with an asterisk.

What an odd statement. So our offense is a little better. The offense would have improved during the course of the year with Poy playing. Our defense was significantly better with Poy playing. You really have no logical basis for that statement.

that blue devil fan that commented is a moron but go figure. We might have lost 1 game but it is not an odd statement at all. Norse.

Our defense was noticeably better with Poythress.

Our offense didn't really spike when he got injured. It gradually went up. No reason why to believe towns, booker, and lyles wouldn't improve the same way.
We would have had historic defense to go along with amazing offense.

Us improving had nothing to do with Poythress being out, it was just the normal progression of players developing under Cal's coaching!

Why does everyone assumes he's leaving? I've been assuming he's coming back. What am I missing?

No it is not. I think the best way to summerize the Poythress situation , as long as he comes back without any ill effects of the injury ( and that is a big caveat) is it worked out best for the team in both the short and long term ( made rotations easier and got the better players more minutes and brings a great player back next year ) and best for Poythress long term as he regardless needs as much time he can get to work on his shooting , dribbling and whatnot ( basically anything to do with offense ) . It might not be PC but it is the truth , at least how I and many UK fans veiw it . If you disagree i understand but it is not dumb .

Also #8 is spot on - Our D without Poy is legendary . Was it better with him ? I don't know as the UCLA , UL and UNC games all happened after Poy went out . I think Poy helped out D but without him we still our the best D in 35 years.

I know he's on track to graduate, but I personally believe he will come back, and go to graduate school. At best he's probably a late 2nd round pick, and think if he comes back and has a really good year he could definitely improve his standing.
