I think it's more that he's a Duke player, who is also white. It's everything Duke fans love, and everything the rest of the basketball world hates: a privileged caucasian Dukie. You cant be in the middle on this one.

As for CC, he's no where near close to her level, in their respective sports. CC is probably going to be a top10 wnba player as soon as next year. She's on a Kobe/Lebron/Magic type of trajectory and thats to say she's going to be among the greatest women basketball players of all time before she's done. Flagg is no where near that yet, and I'd say we're seeing some very big weaknesses in his game, namely shooting. If he can't shoot, he's going to have a tumultuous NBA career.

It isn't about the players it is about the coach. Any team in the nation would love to have Big Z on their team too. They would be using the kid totally different than Cal and the kid would be killing it. For most of the kids who play for Cal, it isn't about their talent; it is about having the mental toughness to not be permanently broken by Cal.

For a 17 year old I thought the kids was pretty good, but not what ESPN and all the analyst were saying good. He has flaws.

His shot form is fine, and he shoots it comfortably from mid-range. Just doesn’t have the long-range down yet.

I see him more as a 2nd or 3rd guy on an NBA team. Scottie Pippen all-around type talent. Not saying he’s Scottie Pippen. I just don’t ever see him being “The Guy.” Is that worth the #1 pick? In this draft you probably still take him first unless you think Ace Bailey is another Kevin Durant (I don’t).

That’s not the point. Is he the once in a generation talent AS A FRESHMAN that he is being touted to be (mostly by ESPN)? The clear answer so far has been NO.
I would not be surprised if he eventually becomes thst, but he is not that NOW. That doesn’t mean he’s not good. He is good. They keep on trying to tell us “he’s a great 3 level scorer”, ignoring that on the one level the data is showing he’s not so good at that level (3’s).
