Just because you don't like Calipari (which is fine), don't just make stuff up to try and prove a point. I'm pretty sure we've all heard him go "shoooot" at times with a guy open behind the 3-pt line. Isn't that (shooot) and "ruuun" being his offense the running joke?
And the worst shot in basketball is one you can't make (often). Everyone (nearly) as they get further from the rim, their % will go down (given enough attempts). And often you will see a distance where that % drops off dramatically. For some guys, that point may be just a step inside the line. Probably not many, but for Brooks it certainly was, actually maybe 2 steps for him.
Agree. This is why I think his rebounding numbers go down. Well that, and, is it even possible they could go up, he must be near the rebound ceiling.
So I don't mind him flashing out there, if he's open. Or an occasional pick & pop. But his true value is on the offensive glass.
I remember Cal talking about Patterson shortly after finding out he was coming back. He said he wanted Patterson to play the 4 and work on his range, but when the game was on the line and they needed easy buckets and rebounds he wanted him close to the basket. I think it’s the same with Tshiebwe, except he doesn’t have Cousins down low to cover for him when he is 20 feet from the basket.
So, Cal should use him a lot in ball screens and let him occasionally pop out to the top of the key for an easy 3. Maybe once or twice a game. It would loosen up the defense a bit, pull his man away from the basket and help Wallace or Livingston or Wheeler be able to get to the rim. It would also help him get a step on his man when he rolled to the basket. Just has to hit one occasionally to plant that seed and make the defense react just a little to get an extra step. It’s little things like that which helps players and gives them a slight advantage. It’s those little things that get you wins.

Well.....for starters....the play you're talking about wasn't a shot, he was trying to lob it at the rim for Toppin and the pass got deflected.
Wheeler led the SEC in assists the past 2 seasons, I don't think he needs to learn how to drive and kick.
This. We have been lacking the grown man physicality the last couple years. 2017 was the last year we really had developed bodies across the board. In the early years we had guys with NBA ready bodies and not just "potential". Bledsoe, Wall, Jones, Lyles, Twins, etc....hell, Dakari Johnson and Daniel Orton were bench guys for us. They would have been 30+ min guys since 2015

I just hope he doesn’t go overboard with the 3’s. One or two attempts per game off Pick and Pop action will suffice. Keep your rebounding magnet hands close to the basket most of the time.

Just because he's yelling "shoooot" doesn’t mean he’s telling them to shoot 3's. I don't know why you think the word "shoooot" automatically translates to "shoot 3's now".
His teams focus on getting the ball into the paint, 1985 style. Thats why you see most games his teams only shoot between 10 and 15 threes. That’s putrid in todays game.
You are plain stupid if you think he would rather his team shoot 18' than 3's. Now maybe there is/was a specific guy (Brooks) that was the case, but in general, NO.
Your problem is, you buy the **** Cal sells. The biggest issue with that is he sells different **** every year.
Remember "I can't hide you"? That was a good one. Turns out, he can hide you.
Fact is, with the exception of the 2011 team, Cal's teams don't shoot but 10-15 threes a game. Heck, recently, UK went a full game… twice without hitting a single 3 pointer and Cal saw no problem with it.
His whole schtick on offense is to feed the post and if that doesn't work, he has his guards feed the post and if that doesn't work… you get the point.
This has been an ongoing problem since Cal got here. He doesn't prioritize the 3 point shot anywhere near enough.

Technically. But I don’t see it happening. Unless he doesn’t get an offer that is just better than his NIL stuff (which is still in limbo). We will lose Oscar primarily thanks to federal law.
Especially with that incoming class. Just give us the damn trophy.
