Gentry was dealing late in the game. He could be important for us this season.

We hit the ball better than we have all season. Vickerson is going to be good for us. Humphreys and Collins will be incredible in the middle of the order in the future.

Woodruff was much better than last week, but still just OK. He can be better, but he had his moments tonight.

We need to sweep these guys. They aren't very good.

It was okay- I'm not mad at all about it, I just take it for what it is- an early season game where we are still trying a lot of guys out in different spots. We started the runners a few times- it paid off some, it burned some. It happens. We'll get better at hitting with RISP.

Woody needed a game like this to start off with. Not stellar, but good enough. He just needs to build on confidence and I think he'll be great.

Myles will be important for us- enough said.

I like Vickerson- he's scrappy and finds ways on base. Reminds me of Detz batting-wise. CT is starting out well. Cody Brown has done well even though he didn't play today.

What we need to fix:
- Rea is normally stellar in the field, but he's had a few moments already this year where he's messed up. I'm not worried that he can correct it, I just want to start seeing it. I'm not that worried with his hitting, as this is pretty hot for him starting out
- SOME pitching- Holder to me fell off a little last year (I know, he was an All-American; he's capable of being better) and he still looks "off". I'm not saying he can't still be awesome, I'm just saying he's capable of more. Woody's off, but I expected that.
- Catcher- we're not set there yet. We need one guy to step up and really take command- Gavin did fine today, not criticizing that, but overall we're going to need someone to prove they're solid back there.
- SS- we're not set there yet. Again- not criticizing Hann because he did what was called for today.

I just want ONE FREAKING BLOODBATH of a game....like, for us to score in the upper teens. it was serve ZERO purpose, other than to prove to me we are capable of doing it, but you see top 20 teams all over the nation do it from time to time and I feel left out. also, i think it would obviously build some confidence in the young team and get the early stats turned around a little, but i want a total bloodletting in the worst way. we need our sacrificial lamb and im not trying to be cute when i say that i want holy cross to be that sacrificial lamb. we need some mojo.

Good post CEO, I can tell you love the game

And you try to understand it at a different level than just stats which I admire. You know a Baller when you see one, cheers!

Holder seems to put a lot of people on base. I don't know what his WHIP is, but seems like every outing he lets at least one guy on.

He seems like a guy that is easy to pick up too. His curve has so much arch in it compared to his fast balls' run, it's got to basically be recognized out of his hand.

Playing four games against Holy Cross, you'll likely get your wish as we get deeper into their pitching staff.

What I don't understand about Holder is why hasn't he developed a 3rd pitch?

It seems like the last two years, more so than the 1st, he's throwing that curve for less strikes. Batters seem to be laying of it and he's putting more men on base via the walk. Then, they sit on the fastball.

Then watch the games the rest of this weekend. They only used 9 pitchers yesterday so I think you will get your wish.
