I have been perusing around here for a few weeks looking for info about my alma mater(Princeton) during the playoffs and thought I would drum up some discussion since it looks like they have lost any presence here.

I have very limited knowledge about this current team, but a lot of historical knowledge. It is great so see them having success in their first 2-A year after wondering around in the football wilderness for the better part of 3 decades 1985ish-2009ish.

I have seen the Dawgs play one game this year so take it for what its worth. My take aways:

1. Large/Physical O-line....their running game is slow developing. The RBs kind of hide behind the O-line for a split second as the play develops and then out they pop for a big gain. Never any negative plays.
2. The offense loves to shift 3-4 guys at a time. In the one game I saw....the line will get set in an unbalanced formation....the QB will give hard count.....and 3-4 guys on the line will shift. It drew at least 3 offsides.
3. From what I understand they have 3 good ball players in the backfield. Brooks, Perris, Edens. I think Brooks may be hurt, he has the most yards on the ground this year. They have a limited passing game, but that may have been due to lack of necessity. (I would imagine it will need to come out soon)
4. The D has no "Freaks" just good team D. I would imagine that a spread team with a strong passing attack may give them some trouble just based on not seeing that too often.
5. These dudes are strong. I think a real commitment to the weight room by the coaches, players, and community has really helped Princeton and made up for what they have historically lacked in size/speed.
6. They did put the ball on the ground a good bit the one game I saw.
7. The game I went to did not have the "buzz" I thought it would given the success of the team, but the town of Princeton has historically turned out well for their non-football teams that go deep into the playoffs. I would expect a big crowd.
8. The school installed a new turf/rubber field recently and I would imagine alot of visiting teams have never played on a field like that. I can't speak for playing football on something like that, but it does take a bit of getting used to running/cutting/sliding on a turf/rubber field so I would imagine there is a slight adjustment.
9. The Gaster Family can coach football

I would imagine that it would take a very disciplined D that plays assignment football instead of trying to make a big play to slow down this running attack. That coupled with more ball control issues could lead to Princeton's demise. They can clearly be scored upon.

Whats the scoop on St. Pauls? I saw a bit of a passing attack on the 30 second snippet posted on HighSchoolOT. That could be an issue for the Dawgs.

St. Paul’s has some studs on offense. Their two RB’s and a WR or 2 that can ball. They will score, but their defense isn’t as solid. This game will be a shootout imo but I haven’t seen enough of Princeton to be sure. I’m just going off what you said and there scores for the season. If Princeton finds a way to slow down or stop St. Paul’s offense you will win going away, if not, then it’ll be a shootout.

I have seen St. Paul up front. They r big as well. They pass the ball well.I know there r question about there defense. But defense did enough to send Alabama to basketball courts.Got st.Paul’s in the final.

I have seen 5 Princeton games this year, defense is good not great. Offense will score and keep the ball for long periods, no big weaknesses. Best running back is hurt not sure he will play, he didn’t last week. They will be tough to beat, should be a great high scoring game.

I am not sure how accurate these statements are in comparison to the numbers they put up.

1. If the defense isn't very good, it's because they had a weak schedule (which I do not believe). St Pauls will have no problem getting it to the box and scoring if this is accurate.

2. While I agree that the offense has been scoring, I believe that keeping the ball for long periods of time against St Pauls increases the chances of being intercepted/fumbled and scoring.

3. These are the two alternatives if this running back was injured and did not play in the previous game. They either reserved him for this game or he is too wounded to play at all.

Once you open it all up...here are the guts: Two undefeated teams...and as well as they've done during the regular season, I'm more focused on how they're trending in the playoffs. STP is averaging 46 PPG and allowing 24 PPG. Princeton is averaging 53 PPG and allowing 21 PPG. This seems to be about as even as it can be.

I'm taking the home-field advantage. Princeton has one or two more productive offensive drives than STP does.
Prediction: Princeton by 10 ; P 42 - STP 32

Remember Headlines were printed all the way in Forbes Magazine that Whiteville was suppose to win by 15pts. :)

I appreciate that very much.

I'm going to be a little skimpy on the outlooks this week...gonna put a little extra time into the Maiden vs East Surry one. This one is special in many ways...
I don’t think anyone would fault you for that. Our game is huge for us as well and Ive been approaching it differently than in 17. I backed off my trash talking on day one and decided to just relax some and let the players and coaches do the talking while I enjoy the game. This game presents a huge opportunity for our program to turn the corner

Said Whiteville
Said everyone about Salisbury too, and we walked them right back on their bus and back to the other side of the lake.

I'm just an outsider looking in, I have no dog in this fight. I'm not worried about other people. I predicted the Eastern Final 4 correctly. I never picked Whiteville to get this far.

Now I'm picking my final two: Northeastern at Princeton for the Eastern Finals.
And I've always been upfront about my Eastern Champ: Northeastern.

Wait..... #2, #3 or #5 the QB? LOL
Princeton has #5 down as the QB but #3 seems to in that position and playing QB Keeper all night.

What I see is up the middle, outside, up the middle, outside all night......... all night

I got bored of watching Ground game all night.

and lets's not forget their trickery fake plays in the Red Zone - "Fake Field Goal"

If the Brooks kid doesnt play, thats a big advantege for St Pauls, even tho Princeton put up 63 last week without him. At this level tho, not having him would be a huge loss.

This game should be a shootout. Both teams are legit title contenders.

I’d wanna see Shelby-Reidsville as well! You’ve picked good one.

Seems…I recall….you’re a healthy eater…won’t be any granola bars and alfalfa sprouts at the concession stand in Shelby!😂😂😂
You better stop and eat before you get to the game!😉

My wife always chooses the restaurant before hand. She loves her alfalfa sprouts for sure. You mountain men laugh, but damn eating healthy, got an older man feeling healthy as ever........ Them Shelby boys eating livermush and liver something, sounds horrible, even to a southern man.

Good point about who is QB Redzone. It is as clear as mud in that backfield. Looks like when they do pass the ball No. 5 has most of the attempts and thus got the QB tag.

I believe St Pauls is going up against a trickery program. St Pauls better study every game this year because Princeton is going to sneak some stratagem plays.....

Is #2 playing or what?

I watched them play Bunn in the first rd. I wanted to get a glimpse of the number one seed. I had been told they were overrated so I figured Id go see for myself. What I saw was a very solid program with some good size. They were quite creative with their play calling and were very exciting to watch. They don’t have the athletes or the speed that our NE Eagles have but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a good team. Those kids can ball. Your in for a fun game at the baddest football field in the East. One thing I’d advise is to get there early because they don’t have much seating. Also you have to purchase your ticket online. You can’t pay at the gate there for some crazy reason.

1. You mean as in trickery?
2. Are you serious? I guess I need to get out of the old school and catchup with the new way

"Whoever the quarterback is" did you notice a lot of QB Keeper all night....

There were a lot of pissed off people there that were having to purchase tickets on their phones at the gate. Trust me there is very limited seating, arrive early.

So will SP. They run big back off right side over and over first half vs Whiteville. QB could not throw 1 half at all. Whiteville fumbled 4 times 2 int. That's how they won. They run slot of traps to right side. Right side dominant team.
