Problem isnt the defense....

imo, the problem isnt the scheme or even the playcalling. Its the horrendous level of preparation in camps, etc. Noone looks like they have a handle on what theyre supposed to be doing.

Our defensive players have no clue as to their assignments. How can our staff not recognize and correct this gigantic problem before now? Our FS has no clue what to do in coverage, and it isnt being corrected. The CBs are actually playing pretty well. They just look bad because the FS doesnt give help when hes supposed to.

Our MLB is constantly out of position and taking poor angles. Our other LBs are constantly over pursuing, creating massive cut back lanes.

The DEs have no concept of edge integrity, or playing disciplined football. The first time anyone runs a reverse against us itll be a touchdown. Our DTs arent blowing anyone away, but theyre playing better than people think (which isnt really saying much).

Now, compare that to the offense. The offense looks like everyone is on the same page. Everyone moves with a purpose. There arent players looking clueless in discussions with coaches, etc.

Either they're not being told or some players are doing whatever they want ,

This is true to a point, but there are some instances where the offensive players don't know what they are doing. For instance, there was at least 2-3 times on Saturday, both with Barker and with Johnson, that we ran a play action pass. The running back went one way and the quarterback turned to do a play action the complete opposite way. No defense is going to bite on play action when your running back isn't even capable of getting the ball because he's on the backside of the quarterback. Needless to say, those were typically unsuccessful plays. You also have some missed blocking assignments and things like that. The offense looks better than the defense, but they also aren't running like a well oiled machine by any means.

No they arent. But they look much better coached than the defense, imo
