I'd love to see a poll on how many people here want Flood to remain as head coach, how many want him replaced, and why.
I don't believe those that want him gone are in the minority. And I don't think it's only the die-hard fans that feel this way either. I get the feeling that programs like Penn State seriously feel the way we did when Greg Robinson was in charge of Syracuse. They want Flood as coach as long as possible because they sense the program is in danger with him in charge.
While programs like Michigan and Penn State get stronger, can you honestly say Rutgers is getting stronger with Flood in charge? I wish I could. I wish I could see what those who think Flood is the right choice for coach see. I remember hearing all of the "he's an honorable man" stuff... well, email-gate and the meeting in Princeton sort of diminished Flood's honorable status for many. So what's left?
That's your opinion and your certainly entitled to it. I personally disagree. I think the rule that he broke was stupid. I think separation between coaches and teachers is ridiculous - coaches are teachers too. Most football fans like flood. they were happy with 8 and 5 and a bowl win. Most of the students I know think the school is out of control at times. That's my small sample of the world. There were people at the game around me that didn't even know Flood was suspended and I am a season ticket holder. They did know about the criminals though - everyone likes a good crime novel I guess. Everyone wants the big time coaches. Do people realize that these guys come with their own rule books? None of them would be bothered to try to even teach a kid, if there were an issue with a kid, you can bet a booster would be doing the kid's homework and getting that grade. When and if we go after The Dream coach, you can bet the rules we're so fond of (eligibility, class requirements, whatever) will have changed by then. I hope it never happens. If Urban Meyer had reviewed a kid's homework, people would have sainted him. Only in NJ, where everything is about politics, politics of power, does a HC get crucified for something so trivial. p.s. Anyone using a computer for their own personal use, to post to a forum for example, is in violation of company rules and is subject to dismissal. If you touch someone in a workplace setting, no matter how innocent (on the leg for example) you are subject to an EEO violation if the person complained that they felt uncomfortable. When a coach like flood has advisors that are supposed to be helping the players, tutoring etc, how is it that he is checking the kids homework? No one has heard Flood's side yet everyone buries him with glee. I hope you all don't get caught up in breaking some rule that "clearly you broke", "knew you were breaking", and thus deserve the punishment you were given, no matter how harsh it might be.
