They will spank our *** come Friday. This game will show you what a good head coach can do with a football team. I suspect any good will received by a win over Arkansas will promptly be thrown out the window come Friday at about 1:00. I figure by half time this game will be over.

Thanks Sly.

I swear some of them could have won the powerball last Saturday and would be pissed off because Ole Miss won that day.

because he is absolutely doing it the wrong way. First, he put in an offense that doesn't take 4 years for his players to master. Then to top it off he came in and didn't immediately begin kicking off all the bad apples on the team at the rate of 2 to 3 per week until he had basically alienated most of the guys who had played multiple years under Orgeron. How can you give props to a guy that would take such unethical shortcuts with his program.

that guy loaded ole miss up with talent.

Nutt's done a nice job with it but is probably still a game back of where he should be.

I also never dreamed that Auburn, Arkansas, and LSU would be so awful. That's 3 wins I still wouldn't predict in any given year. And frankly, Wake is pretty damn average at best.

You shouldn't have beaten Florida. But you should've beaten SC and Vandy and probably even Wake.

It was part not wanting to think it could happen and part looking at your schedule and only seeing 6 wins. Myself, I saw 6-7 wins. The Florida and Auburn game is where I was off.

Congrats on a good season.

this just goes to show how terrible of a coach 0 was/is and what a team can do with even a competent head coach....meanwhile the majority of our fan base thinks crooms is the best coach ever in our history because he's "such a good guy and other coaches like him."</p>

no doubt about it. The troubling thing about it for me is I actually look forward to watching them play. Looking forward to watching Ole Miss play is unchartered waters for me as I was raised to hate everything Ole Miss.

Hopefully one of these days I will say the same about watching us play again, I am just afraid we will need a new staff before that happens.

Thank God for basketball season.

which is the big part of UM's success this year. But he did get him to Oxford. Just sayin'.

yes Nutt can coach the hell out of some talented players. But would he have done the same without Snead? What will he do next year minus Oher, Jerry, Hardy?

But I agree, he's done a great job.

as good as Nutt? absolutely not. But really, when you look at it, this year has made sense. Orgeron brought in a lot of young talent, played a LOT of close games against the conference when the conference was really good...and without a qb. The talent has matured another year, the conference is as bad as its ever been, and Nutt has a good qb. So its not like the guy has walked on water. They are having a really good, fun year. It must be nice to score a touchdown and its no big deal.

Have you heard about our secondary? You know, the part of our team where we had to move a 5-9 wide receiver to be a starting cornerback?

Or how about our running backs? The Shrimper left us with one (1) who had played in an SEC game before. I think Eason had two carries or something. Nutt signed Brandon Bolden and Enrique Davis.

We have no offensive line depth, and if Snead goes down, we're all of a sudden relying on Billy Tapp.

Orgeron left us "loaded" with talent at defensive line (and even there, our best player is a Cutcliffe signee) and wide receiver. That's it.

...I think Nutt is an idiot and any props I may give him is dripping with sarcasm.

I'm not a coach34 or constanza-type who kisses the *** of other coaches & teams as a means to demean my own (MSU) coaches. That's not my shtick.

Yes, Nutt has a big Egg Bowl spread his first year, but thank God MSU is not saddled with this idiot (Nutt) for the duration.

My take (1st post in this thread) was attached to the Egg Bowl slogan thread originally; dawgstudent took it off that thread & placed it in a thread by itself, thereby destroying the context.

1. Few teams have great offensive line depth.
2. Running backs are a dime a dozen. We are MSU and we have had a litany of good ones. Eason and Dixon were the best backs in the State. He signed one of them. And Mcluster seems to be doing just fine there.
3. I don't know of any team that is pumped about having to play their back up quarterback. If Snead had not signed, you would be playing Tapp.

You o-line is making a difference. The wildcat is not innovative anymore. It works b/c you have blockers and you get the ball into the hands of one of the best playmakers in the conference---who O brought in.

MSU- where the back up is always "the real deal". (Unless it's Kyle York or Ty Evans)

Yeah thank God we don't have a coach who has done nothing but field competitive teams and put his teams in position to win games week after week at every stop he has made in his coaching career. Did you have your head in the sand while he was at Arkansas? Yeah, he's not a world beater, but Nutt would be beloved at MSU if he did what he did at Arkansas. Its just a good thing we're not stuck with him....who needs a winner when we got Croom?

But you think he is an idiot?

Bad recruiter, maybe but bad gameday coach?

He isn't perfect, but I don't see how you think the guy can't coach.

..your opinion.

I can remember when Nutt was @ UPig, the general consensus was that Nutt was an unpredictable oddball.

But now that he has brought Ole Miss back, his feces are odorless suddenly.

As a MSU fan, I am sticking with my pre-Ole Miss assessment of Nutt: He is an unpredictable oddball.

I am not going to suddenly begin extolling a coach I hated all along just because he is re-building my rival's program.

That's Stockholm Syndrome silliness is coach34 & Constanza territory.

Of course he can coach.

Anybody who can get Ole Miss bowl eligible in the post intergration era is definitely a good coach.

I'm just saying Nutt was a laughingstock around here when he was @UPig.

From leaving the Nebraska plane humming on the runway, to acting weird on the sidelines, Nutt used to be sixpack.com's clown mascot.

Where even if you hated him personally, pretty much everyone agreed he was a good coach.

I never really like him when he was at Arkansas, but I always thought he was a good coach. More than that, his staff seems really good. Both the OL and DL have improved since the first game, and I attribute that to Markulson and Rocker, both of whom are very good coaches.

Agree to disagree.

Im sure MSU fans wanted Nutt out of Arkansas just like Ole Miss fans wanted him out of Arkansas, because the guy beat the crap out of Ole Miss more times than he lost, and Im pretty sure he did the same thing to MSU.

I don't care if Nutt is doing the Ickey Shuffle on the sidelines, if he is calling a great game, what do I care.

He can wear a clown suit on the sideline if he takes us to 6 new year day bowls in 10 years and never lose to state. Guess I ought to rent him a clown suit for Fri. Keep laughing Ronny.

Loads of talent at Ark, and the only SEC football coach with a losing bowl record. Yes of course he's a much better gameday coach than Croom, but come on... I think somebody in this thread called him one of the best coaches in the nation or something. Get a grip.

No one around here was claiming Nutt to be the second coming but I dont think hardly anyone cared about his personality.

I'm just saying Nutt was a laughingstock around here when he was @UPig.

Laughing stock? What? The guy owned our ***. I dont give a **** if a coach has a third are growing out of his ***, likes men, drinks New Coke or thinks Britney Spears has talent. IF the guy wins football games he meets the one criteria set forth in being a college head coach.

You probably still haven't caught on, but YOU are the sixpack clown mascot and laughingstock around here.

It has been proven time and time again. Some posters may not know you was well as Costanza or Coach due to their frequency of post, but in time they will figure you out.

TV directors just love to do close ups of him when he is calling plays on the sideline. His face contorts, contracts and bulges all at the same time while most of his hand signals point at his stuff at some point in the sequence. It is a good clown act.

He'd have %@%%%% Snead up as badly as he did Schaeffer. Put Snead in with the same coaching staff as last year and State and Ole Miss would be playing for the bottom of the SEC on Friday. The change in coaching easily accounts for the change in records this year.

he does more with less. He can't recruit worth a **** and can't manage more than a few top players. But he gets the most out of average players.
