Like many other fans, I had a great experience at Beaver Stadium. Once we arrived I was invited to have drinks with 3-4 different tailgates and everyone wanted to know if our group was having a good time. I did have a some back and forth trash talking (all clean) with a few fans but it was all in fun. I heard the "where's your coach" chant which funny. I was honestly a little surprised how nice everyone was. I plan on returning the courtesy next season.

I concur, had a great time, we arrived around 1:30 and the traffic that everyone warned us about was non existent. My only complaint was how tight the seating is. You almost have to sit sideways to fit in your seat and i'm quite lean. I had 3, shall I say, husky, young men in our row and it was really tight, especially in the beginning when it was still hot. And after tailgating all day in the sun, not everyone is smelling so fresh. The rain actually helped get rid of people so by the 2nd half we had some breathing room. I could not imagine sitting there for a day game in September on an 85 degree day, sticking to the person in the seat next to you.

It also brings up the question I asked myself. I saw a guy walking down the concourse who had to go at least 400 pounds, his *** was at least 3 feet across. There is no way this guy could fit in the seats unless he has like 3 tickets. So I ask the PSU fans, what do you do in a case like that where the guy next to you is so fat he's taking up your seat and maybe even your friends seat too?

Ticket turnover "down sized" my row this year with some larger folks vacating and some recent grads (read skinny) replacing them. It's worse in cold weather with bulky gear.

The only defense is to rent seat back chairs. They help a little to keep your space protected. I'd like to see a breakdown of BiG ticket prices at each school in terms of $/linear seat-inch.

I think it's even worse at the Big House. If I remember correctly, Penn State bench seats are 14" apart while Michigan's are 12" (hence the claims that PSU would have a higher capacity if they both had the same seat sizes).

Chairbacks are a lifesaver.

We had about a 50% ok/not ok experience. Some were nice, some weren't.

Heard a rumor that Rutgers section boo'd the Blue Band when they formed the Block R and played your fight song? Is this true? I can't imagine why. Skeptical.

the psu fans around us booed it (section EUG) but we RU fans were quite impressed. I have no idea why the RU fans would boo their own fight song. sounds like someone trying to stir up trouble.

Mostly good experience in the lot while tailgating. Some back and forth with some younger fans on the way in, but nothing I couldn't handle.

Adult fans are great and are as friendly as can be. The youths and the wannabe locals were pretty bad. PSU does not get a pass for the logistical nightmare of 45 minutes at a single gate. Downright dangerous. Disaster waiting to happen. Unimpressed with their attendance nonsense given the way they cram fans into rows. Frankly dangerous again. The campus and downtown were a lot of fun. Rathskeller was awesome. Pimentis(sp) was a great college bar and again people could not be friendlier.

Sounds like the NJ based PSU fans are the problem (and young guys - but that's probably everywhere) and the PA PSU fans are fine. Last year we had two of the biggest Tom's River based PSU jackasses sitting next to us in 207 (and we really tried to be nice) but PSU fans tailgating next to us were real nice.

Yea, so that didn't actually happen.
Not in NLU and we had some of the rowdier student aged fans in there. Of course most of them didn't make it in that early.

I thought the PSU band did a nice job and did not hear anything suggesting a negative reaction to the salute to the guests portion of the program.

We (Section NJU) just had a lot of booing when the PSU players from NJ were introduced up on the scoreboard...

Gate E had a gigantic line trying to get in about 7:30 PM.. Switched over to Gate D which was a lot less crowded....

I was in a part of the Rutgers section (NLU) and heard no such booing. I was impressed at the gesture and applauded it as did everyone around me.

We definitely boo'd players who were from NJ during the introductions though.

Both stadiums are 16 inches. Michigan's use to be 14 inches but during the last renovation they were enlarged.

NJ based PSU, ND, Michighan, and Wisconsin are all terrible fans. They don't represent the majority of those fans.

That is pretty cool that their band saluted Rutgers. Is this a B1G tradition with other schools?

They don't allow seats with backs into the stadium....
This....had to throw my seat cushion out before going in. Not cool.

And the 99% nice PSU fans are to be expected. They don't respect Rutgers so why be mean to us? That would mean they have to acknowledge that we deserve to be on the same field as them. It was brought to my attention how our 3% of the fan base went all Sandusky comments on them last year. I just said I wasn't one of them as I was sitting with three PSU fans. It was quickly dropped.

We all know how nasty the UCanT and SadExcuse fans are to us. While we are quite nice to their fans :)

But they will rent you one for the game. As a frequent visitor of the other guys venues this is an amenity I wish all stadiums had. Much easier than carrying your own, and easier on the back than a bench.
Expensive, well yes, but we should be all about generating revenue.

When we were in Lincoln the did something for RU, but I can't remember what. I do remember that they played our fight song.

here's a pic of the R from psu and a good shot of the blue/white stripes as well as a small contingent of RU VIP's sitting down behind the team.

If our band is expected to do this we're gonna have to spread out the schedule a bit more. Say 6 weeks between games.

LOL RU Band.

Stayed in the RV parking area! Arrived on Friday just after dinner time, up at 7:30 on Sat morn with the rest of the fans----plenty of RU representation-------everyone partying and friendly!!!

When I got into my seats there were some mildly obnoxious people who taunted RU people but nothing too bad!!!!

As an FYI, there is a debate about the stadium right now amongst PSU fans. It needs some major upgrades and it has been suggested that they may just build a whole new one. I am torn and don't really know what I would like to see. I was telling my OSU buddy on Saturday that I sat in the exact same seat 33 years ago as a kid. As much as people bust on the erector set, it is a PSU icon.

I saw that sock!!!!!

Mrs Screwwere you in EJU? I was in EJ just below. I had that same view from my seats below.

I took a photo of that tailgate from our bus as we were looking for the correct lot to park in. It was the lone scarlet in a sea of blue and white.

we were in EGU so quite near you I suspect.

That's because it would cut into their revenue. You have to purchase them with your tickets.
Not true, there are several options. Seats are available for rent on a per game basis inside the stadium. Also, if you own a seat with no metal or pockets that are the proper width you CAN carry them in. I got my folding seat with strap adjustable back at McClannahans. Use it every game with no problems. They mainly check it for no metal. Never had anyone measure it.

Rutgers fans DID NOT boo the Blue Band. Like tOSU Band last year, a classy move by them. We were in the RV lot and other than walking by a group of young female tailgaters on the way to the stadium yelling "Buttgers" it was all good. Strange way to mock RU given Sandusky and all...

What does your AD look like. Walking in to the stadium near your alumni tent, I was behind a lady dressed in a red dress suit and heels.

Assumed it was Julie so I gave a very understated "booooo". She turned around to see where it came from and I gave her a big smile and a friendly wave. She smiled back, took two steps, turned around again and said "was that a boo or moo?" She made me laugh out loud - well played! I smiled back and said "no, that's what OUR subway sounds like. ". She laughed and we parted ways.

Wonder if it was Julie???

The OSU band also formed a block R last year.

The opponents fight song is a B1G tradition. All schools do it. The one's with a competent director also do things like forming the R. Some even better than the school they're saluting.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Ran in to Andy Sisti walking around the lots with his wife. Super nice guy. Stopped by to talk with me and my PSU friends for a little while.

BTW-not a fan of the guy operating the Video Board. Rutgers is quick to put replays of both good and bad up on the screens and is good about making sure the upcoming is set to go on the screen before the play snaps. This guy was all about making sure that the crowd was making noise and left the message up too long so you would miss beginnings of plays or replays. I know I'm nitpicking here but still, I think the fans know to make noise. You don't need it up ALL THE TIME! Show the game!
