Period 1:
Collar ties with Ayala up & down from 1-knee. Throw some hand fighting in too. Blaze is holding center in his low stance. Blaze drags & tries to come behind, but Ayala stays squared up & fights him off. Stalemate & neutral restart. Tying up & hand fighting. Blaze looks for a shot, but can't find the opening. Ayala hasn't done much, so far. Blaze reaches for an ankle, but can't get there. Blaze tries a throwby & time expires. 0-0
Period 2:
Blaze takes down. False start on the ref. Blaze works to his feet. Ayala drops to a leg. Blaze pops back up & Ayala takes him out of bounds, restart. Blaze is still down. He works to his feet, gets hand control, but Ayala drops to a leg again. Blaze tries to turn in, then works back to his feet & gets the escape, 1-0. Blaze reaches for an ankle, but can't get there. Blaze drives Ayala out. Ayala gets a stall call, back to neutral. Blaze drops in on a leg & elevates it. Ayala bounces around on 1-leg. Blaze works behind & gets the TD, 4-0. Out of bounds & restart. Ayala is still down. Ayala turns, then stands & gets the escape, 4-1. Blaze pushes forward, Ayala circles back to center & time expires. 4-1 Blaze
Period 3:
Ayala takes down. He works to his feet & gets the escape, 4-2. Collar ties & hand fighting again. Ayala pushes forward a bit. Blaze circles back to center. Ayala tries a throw-by & gets in deep on a leg, but Blaze fights him off. Wow, insane defense by Blaze! Back to collar ties & hand fighting. Ayala picks up the pace. Blaze is holding solid position. Blaze gets a stall call. Ayala shoots on the edge. Blaze circles back in. Tying up & hand fighting to end the period.

Blaze is indefatigable. Keeps at his game and as we know never gets out of position.
LOL, the Hawkeye fans giving the ref grief about Blaze's TD. That was, by the rules, a TD. When Ayala kept the one hand on the mat to support himself (beyond a quick reaction), that makes it a TD in college.
The Ayala throw-by, but Blaze fought it off.

That was a good match, but one that Iowa was hoping to win. That’s going to take some wind out of their sails.

That was a nice attempt and usually finishes that too!
In fairness, none of those are bad losses (although admittedly, that is a really bad stat and look for him).
This is the problem with Davis. Gets sloppy

Let's go Scooter! Davis starts off with a 2 on 1, but Bailey pulls away. Bailey is working up & down off 1-knee too. Some head tapping now. Bailey drops to a leg & quickly finishes the TD, 3-0. Bailey locks up a cradle. Davis is trying to fight him off. Davis breaks the grip & fights off the cradle. Bailey has Davis bellied out on the edge. Bailey goes over 1-min riding time. Out of bounds & restart. Davis is still down. Davis sits out, then works to his feet & gets the escape, 3-1. Davis looks for a 2 on 1, but Bailey pulls away. Bailey doesn't seem to want to tie-up. He's keeping his distance. Davis takes Bailey to the edge. Bailey tries a throw-by, but Davis blocks him off & time expires. 3-1 Bailey, +1:10 RT

Bailey takes down. Davis gets riding time under 1-min. Bailey works to his feet, but Davis brings him back to the mat. Davis tries a suck back, but Bailey rolls through. Bailey works back to his feet, but not for long. Out of bounds & restart. Bailey is still down. Bailey turns & tries to stand, but Davis breaks him down & gets him bellied out. Riding time has completely been erased & Davis is getting it now. Bailey is still bellied out. He works to his base, but isn't doing much from bottom. Davis is stuck to Bailey like glue & takes him out of bounds, restart. Bailey is still down. Davis is up to 41-sec RT now. Davis rides out the period. 3-1 Bailey. Davis +49-sec RT

Great fight by Davis. Most guys get decked with that cradle locked up
Davis puts himself is some tough positions
Bailey getting Tired. He’s 9 and 5. Davis is in Shape. Davis can beat him now
I love Scooter. But he was definitely absent the day they taught “keep your hips up” in wrestling.
