I always love the Iowa crowd constantly screaming for stalls. A tale as old as time. And a symbol of an inferior team.
This takes place anywhere but Carver and Bailey gets dinged three times, And the others all once more than they had. As Cael says "Iowa is good for showing us what we need to work on".
Kind of his thing at this point. Made a good run two years ago but this is who he is
He wasn't Carvered. It was only his second match back. He had Bailey completely gassed in the second but unfortunately Davis never put together enough solid shots in the third to take advantage.
Backing up and stalling like hell
It's a caricature that you would think even THEIR fans would recognize and get tired of.
Iowa wrestlers are good and looking to counter. Just backing up the whole time. It’s hard to score when they want to counter. You can’t just rush in.
Honestly I think Iowa has wrestled well and the freshman have wrestle tentative. As I said with Duke Blaze is so good his version of being carvered is just a match where he is hesitant and wins closely.
Not that this is anything technical but I think Iowa has shown up and wrestled really tough through the first five matches. If Davis had just a little more in the tank he had Bailey IMO. They both looked gassed. PJ and Blaze didn’t open up as much as I think they can but I also give the opponents credit.
I agree, I'm not terribly upset or worried about that. Bailey (to his credit), timed his first period takedown perfectly and Davis mostly controlled the match after that. He'll get it together.
Ono is going to a couple opens soon. Gonna be interesting how he does on the mat wrestling.
I'd bet if we looked You Iowa is one of the lowest takedown matches yearly. As much as we like ragging on them, they're generally much better than the other teams and even their "bad " guys aren't going to get smoked...usually.
That's Carvered: The crowd confuses the opposition regularly. I wasn't putting down Davis. This is his second match and the next time he wrestles Bailey he defends in neutral and wins the match on the mat. Either at BJC or in Cleveland.
In that hold, the top guy has to keep the elbow/forearm against the back, and not beyond 90 degrees. The elbow came up from the back, and the ref is supposed to call PD as soon as that happens/as soon as they notice it.
and they have 2 TD's in 5 matches.
This is a confusing comment. SVN has 1 non-bonus win all season, and that was a 10-4 win over Valencia. He has 4 pins and 4 techs. What more would he need to do to ‘look good’ in your mind?Agree. He has not looked good all year.

Yelling for stalling is literally their Gable statue. Its ingrained in the program.
No one should assume Davis wins easily. He lacks offense especially a go to shot. He was stumbling in that 3rd period to try to get a shot off. He is never a sure thing.
PJ must have been doing something extra rough because the ref spoke to him and warned him not to do it again.

Like all of penn state wrestlers, come on guys, give credit where credit is due Iowa showed up it's a good match! The ref is doing everything right too. Zero disappointment so far

I get that Mitchell shoots nonstop. But Caliendo wasn’t stalling.
MM shooting Straight on. Geez our Guys need to Create an Angle much more. Big issue here. Just thinking about the Big Te tournament at the BJC and Nationals
