I think this match is the beginning of the end of Brands. 2 total TDs before HWY match. Minus Caliendo, no aggression, just grabbing hands and fingers trying to slow down the pace. Ferrari spending 3 periods on a knee rather than using his strength and quickness to setup shots.
I disagree on Caliendo, he didn’t do anything. He used to at least try against MM. He’s stopped that and is just happy to try to keep it close.

Actually I think we wrestled better than I thought we would: Flight was delayed, got in very very late, hardly any time to recover, then went out and did what we do every season at Carver: What nobody else can do. Forget about the scores because everything at Carver is always far less than a neutral mat.

What makes me mad about Ferrari is he is talented enough to wrestle a different style and dominate people. Kid is quick as a cat and has great shots when he decides to go. It’s a waste that he wrestles the way he does
He gases wrestling that style, imagine how he would gas if he wrestled hard for 7 minutes.

Did Iowa have more stall calls than takedowns?

They did fight, but it seemed like most of their guys had long periods of inactivity in every match

Interview with Cole:

Q: I feel like you're getting better and turning the corner
- I'm just trying to get better every match, and get these guys moving. I feel good after the break

Q: Talk about the TD
- I got the same position against the Rutgers guy, but I jumped in the wrong way. Tonight I jumped the right way, got my leg out, and got the TD

Q: talk about the environment (at CHA)
- I've watched PSU wrestler here since I was a kid. It was really cool

Q: biggest thing you've adjusted in the past month
- I think I just feel like I can go beat these guys

Q: Welsh beats Ferrari. Talk about that one
- I love having him on the team, he's a great guy, and he's a great wrestler

Q: talk about your brother, and your dad
- me and my brother have been doing this our whole lives. Cool to do that with my dad here, as he drove us to all the stuff

Q: Biggest margin of victory
- it was fun. It is part of the process. We do our thing, and the process will play out

Q: How much do you guys enjoy the road trips, the hanging out; how important are they
- I think they help us connect with our teammates and coaches, and it's a lot of fun

Q: in the room, talk about the different feel and looks
- everyone at Penn State is a world-class person and wrestler. There's nowhere else me and my teammates would rather be

What is with the mat side chicks? I see it match to match. They are matt side and aren't even watching. I’m glued totally in the focus zone. Who are these girls? And yea it is usually chicks.

Sorry if this was discussed during the meet, but what are the chances they encourage stall calls when kneeling in neutral. that's all it is and is as bad for the sport as cam amine and will lewan
That is the crazy thing for me......when those guys had to, they showed great skill, yet most of their matches were snoozefests. I don't understand it.

Don't discard what Blaze did: That was the real Drake Ayala out there. The one who took Byrd into deep water and should have won the national championship last year, and Blaze beat him on a mat he never loses on. Blaze got out of that throw by and I have never seen anyone get out of that. Much bigger win than will be mentioned. That version of Ayala tonight would beat Forrest and probably anyone else.

184- #4 Rocco Welsh vs. #1 Angelo Ferrari

Period 1:
Big match here. Let's go Rocco! Ferrari immediately drops to 1-knee. Rocco taps at the head. Ferrari pops to his feet, but only for a moment. Rocco reaches for a leg, but can't get there. Ferrari is planted on his knee. Collar ties & hand fighting for a moment, then Ferrari goes back to 1-knee. Rocco takes Ferrari near the edge. Ferrari pushes back to center & drops back to 1-knee. How is this wrestling? Ferrari just sits there on 1-knee doing nothing. Brief tie-up to end the period. 0-0

Period 2:
Ferrari takes down. He works to a quadpod, then Rocco drops to a leg. He elevates it & takes Ferrari out of bounds. Ferrari is still down. Ferrari works back to a quadpod, then gets a whizzer, turns & gets the escape, 1-0. Rocco presses forward. Ferrari spends most of his time on 1-knee. Tying up in the center now, then Ferrari goes back to a knee. Ferrari reaches for a leg, but can't get there. Time expires. 1-0 Ferrari

Period 3:
Rocco takes down. He works to his feet, but can't get hand control. He finally does & gets the escape, 1-1. Riding time is not an issue. Rocco presses forward. Ferrari stays on a knee, then they tie up. Rocco shoots & gets to a leg, but Ferrari fights free. Out of bounds & neutral restart. Ferrari takes him time getting back. Ferrari looks like he's ready to put in some time at a glory hole. Ferrari finally gets a stall call, then drops back to 1-knee. Rocco looks for an opening, but Ferrari is planted on a knee & time expires.

SV:
Rocco shoots & gets to a leg, but Ferrari fights him off. Ferrari works an underhook & takes Rocco to the edge. Ferrari drops in on a single, but Rocco fights him off. Ferrari goes back to 1-knee. Tying up for a moment. Rocco shoots, Ferrari counters, but nobody scores. Rocco shoots, but they go out of bounds. Why no stall on Ferrari there? Ferrari is slow back to center. Tying up & pushing. Ferrari shoots, but Rocco blocks him off. Out of bounds & restart. Ferrari comes up limping a little, then shakes it off. Time expires.

TB1:
Ferrari takes down. He works to his feet & throws in a whizzer. Rocco drops to a leg & gets a stall call, restart, 15-sec left. Ferrari is still down. Ferrari works to his feet, then rolls, but Rocco stays with him. Rocco drops to a leg, but time expires. Rocco rides out the period.

TB2:
Rocco takes down. He rolls, but Ferrari stays with him. Rocco gets to his feet & gets the escape, 2-1. Ferrari shoots, Rocco sprawls back & they go out of bounds. Ferrari shoots, but Rocco fights him off. Rocco drops to a leg & time expires. Yeah baby!!!

Rocco Welsh DEC Angelo Ferrari 2-1 TB2
