Davis needs to work out with Zain everyday to the big ten tournament. Get good in all 3 positions and Really Work on turning guys on Top. Be Super Physical on Top creating pain. Perfect the Bow and Arrow. In addition his conditioning will be great. Will see.
Hopefully Zain can teach him how to create an angle on his shot as well…

I know Braeden lost at Iowa but I'm starting to see glimpses from him. I think he's better than he's ever been. Not much to go from I know but he just looks more sound in everything he's doing.

157- #3 PJ Duke vs. Gunnar Myers

Period 1:
Here we go! PJ throws in an underhook. Myers drops to his knees, then gets a leg. PJ sprawls back hard, then works to his feet, gets a leg & finishes the TD, 3-1. PJ cuts Myers, 3-1. PJ immediately drags, then comes behind & trips Myers to the mat for another TD, 6-1. NW throws the brick. I think they're challenging that Myers didn't fully have the escape before PJ got his 2nd TD. They're questioning the release.

Challenge won, score changed back to 3-0 PJ. No escape & TD. Myers starts down. PJ cuts Myers, 3-1. PJ tries 2 on 1, but Myers pulls away. Myers shoots. PJ goes 2 on 1 again, then tries a trip, but no luck. PJ drops to a leg & finishes another TD, 6-1. Myers gets the escape, 6-2. Myers shoots, PJ counters & finishes another TD, 9-2. PJ cuts Myers, 9-3. Myers shoots. PJ counters & comes behind for another TD, 12-3. PJ cuts Myers, 12-4. PJ shoots a double. Myers counters & gets a leg. Stalemate & neutral restart. PJ shoots a quick double. Myers gets a a leg, but PJ finishes the TD, 15-4 & has Myers on his back. PJ gets the FALL!!!

PJ Duke FALL Gunnar Myers (2:42)

Agree. Just looks sharper and avoiding those risky scrambles he got into last year that usually cost him. Think Davis is going to do well. Needs a big win here coming up in the regular season

I actually disagree with those who say he is not as strong at 141 as before at 125 and 133: I have seen most this year and Davis looks like one of the strongest 141 pounders out there. His ride is absolutely brutal. Just needs to keep doing what he is doing. Damn right he can get on the podium in March.

I think we’re looking at another shutout. Too bad we didn’t shutout Iowa on Friday. This would make it 5 in a row. I wonder what the NCAA record is for most consecutive shutouts.
Per somewhere on another thread, at least 5

Looked plenty strong to me. His primary problem is the same - Neutral Offense against quality competition. When he tries to get on his Neutral Offense against high quality opponents, his defense goes bye-bye.

Storniolo applied for the Oklahoma job a few years ago. He is friends with a friend of mine who has connections to OU. He was bitching about not getting the job at Northwestern’s social in Philly last year. Called Roger Kish “a Peter Griffin looking mf’er.” Hahaha
He should worry about his own program. Total embarrassment.

They have one 165 on their roster. He INJ defaulted then MFF’d out of Midlands. He came back last weekend but lost by TF Friday, so he may not be 100%. If so, I’m not going to give him a hard time for noping out of a match against Mesenbrink.
True, also their lone backup 157 has not wrestled this year at all.

Something we take for granted: Northwestern has long had a problem with roster size -- it's typically around 18-22 total including redshirts. It's partly internal Title IX compliance, and partly that NW is really freaking expensive if you're a walk-on. Also NW is like Stanford with grad admissions, so they lose a lot of graduating seniors with remaining eligibility (like Davison making the national finals at Michigan).

Barr works to his feet, then snatches a leg. Smith rolls, but Barr stays with him & finishes the TD, 3-0. Barr looks for a turn, but can't quite get it. Barr has a leg turk, adjusts, then gets some swipes, or maybe not. Barr locks up a cradle & is getting swipes now, then the FALL.

Ben Askren was right, PSU has become very good at not getting caught in a scramble by opposing wrestlers and finishing the takedown. Ben said he watched film and figured out what they are doing and he's stealing it to teach his kids. Lol
Soon as I posted this is saw a tweet from Pyles about what Ben was talking about and that he thinks he knows what it is. And then saw Ben tweeting about it.

Agree with this as well. Neutral Offense and Defense definitely needs to improve. Do that and he can place high on the Podium at the Big Ten tournament in the BJC and Nationals. Wrestling RBY can improve him in that area. Will see we have some big matches coming up soon
