Hey. There’s no statute of limitations on jokes about Iowa.Let me guess you've no clue that Larry hasn't been at Coe for years. I believe he was in MN for awhile and now the president at a small college in IL . So your joke is like 5 years old

I'll be telling Cathy Lee eyeglasses jokes to my great grandkids…and I don’t even have grandkids yet.Hey. There’s no statute of limitations on jokes about Iowa.
The 5 min flight from Cambria County to State College? I think PSU should just man up and pay it.
He is a stout competitor. I’m not a good evaluator of ceiling, which seems to be a Cael trait in recruiting, but he’s won just about everything since he was youngI mentioned it on HVI, but I'll post here too. This kid is the real deal. I've watched him wrestle from the youth level through when he moved to Utah. When in Missouri, he wrestled for Rare Breed Academy (basically a boarding school for wrestling, BJJ, and MMA) then trained with Sammie Henson's club (Bull Trained). They called this kid The Prodigy because he was winning U15 tournaments as a 9 and 10 year old. He's been under the radar because he's not in one of the top states, but he's legit and a lot of fun to watch.
I'm not surprised by this. I posted a couple of weeks ago that there probably needs to be some recalibration on Bassett's part, because if not, he would probably end up at someplace that we would consider very surprising. I don't think that the family's expectations and the top-tier programs' willingness were in alignment. You would think that Bassett would’ve already made his decision by now… have any of you guys heard anything about a possible decision?
Not surprising. He has no leverage. And there's a lot of time for him to be co-recruited with Miller, whose recruitment began 3 weeks ago.You would think that Bassett would’ve already made his decision by now… have any of you guys heard anything about a possible decision?
Yes he is. Class of 2028.I just learned that Jo Jo Burke’s (NJ State Champ as a freshman @106lbs) sister is starting her Freshman year in Happy Valley in September. His father was a 3rd place finisher in NCCAs for Seaton Hall University in Jersey in the early/mid 90s. Kid is physically not really hit puberty yet so hard to predict his college weigh in four years…but might be a kid we want to watch.
DIFFERENT SPORT.. but a major win for PSU recruiting.. It is being widely reported that Gavin Mckenna, the consensus #1 overall pick in next years NHL draft will officially commit to the good guys this week. This is beyond amazing for the team and instantly puts us in the hunt for a hockey national title..
I used to work with a guy from Canada that stopped watching the NHL when Florida got a team. I kindof feel the same way about Vegas. Vegas isn’t my cup of tea to begin with, but hockey in Vegas seems so unnatural and commercialized.frozen four is in vegas next year too
Rumor has it that Atlanta might get their third bite at the NHL apple.I used to work with a guy from Canada that stopped watching the NHL when Florida got a team. Or go to the Lions Den where this is being heavily discussed.Guys - PSU recruiting news only please. Maybe create an OT - Other PSU Sports thread for non-wrestling talk.

About 2:10 in the video U16 Fargo heavyweight champ Noah Larios from Cali was asked his goals and he responded “Penn State, I want to go to Penn State”. Could be a name to keep an eye on
We've lacked depth at heavyweight forever. If a kid wants to be here and Cael thinks it's a good fit, I'm all for adding a kid who is so public about his desire to be here. It sounds like Cael wants to get every wrestler a full ride or very close to one now as well.Congrats to him for winning Fargo. Unfortunately, he looks like a depth candidate at PSU unless he hits a vertical growth spurt -- he's listed at 5-10 for football (and when a football player is listed as short, he's probably shorter than listed). Plus he's more Snacks than Kerk, except officially 5+ inches shorter than either.
Granted, Snyder is 5-11, but, well, unfair comparison.
Larios took 7th at CA states after getting teched 17-1 by Merrill. So he'll need to develop, not just add height.
But he's 2027 so there's time. And he's young for the class (not held back), so he's earlier in his development. Next year he'll likely get Merrill again at states, and at Fargo he'll move up to JRs with the competition growing into HWT. So we'll see.
Wish him well. Happy to root for guys who want to be here.
Can't disagree with any of that. As for the full ride side of things, Cael and Pat Kraft have talked about that publicly. From my understanding, I don't think they're going to the maximum, but they'll be in the ballpark. We've lacked depth at heavyweight forever. Agreed, though he'll run into a familiar issue during recruitment: he's likely a future D1 starter elsewhere. Is he gonna be OK with the risk of never starting at PSU? A scholarship only relieves the financial aspect. We've lacked depth at heavyweight forever. That's fair but I think it's way less of a deterrent when kids don't have to worry about their tuition bill. One thing to not start and then be racking up tuition on top of that when you could be going to college for free.Agreed, though he'll run into a familiar issue during recruitment: he's likely a future D1 starter elsewhere. It's why we never landed HWT Carter Neves after he "soft verballed" to PSU, along with many others who we recruited.
Makes sense. It's impossible for 30 to be endowed obviously, that takes time. I think Kraft will give it to Cael on a need basis. If Cael says I have a kid that I can get for a full ride for 4-5 years,Kraft will stamp it immediately. Can't disagree with any of that. We say this but the evidence says it's a great exception rather than a real probability. The team has had a number of Academic AA and Academic All-Big Ten honorees, and they just don't get academic scholarships. Then you can consider off just the top of my head, there's 3 kids who don't need anything. Asher and Hayden Cunningham and Dalton Perry (kids who's parents work for the school, obviously Asher and Hayden's dad being Casey) Then a lot of smart kids who likely can get academic scholarships.

ROTC scholarships are going to be much more selective in the next few years. They currently have too many cadets for the number of LT's they need. This tends to be a cyclical thing and will probably swing back to the way it was 2 years ago in another 6-8 years. The good news is that PSU will get more than their fair share, but most of them will be national 4 year winners done before they even apply. We say this but the evidence says it's a great exception rather than a real probability. Unless there's been some recent addition to the list, Devon Van Cura is the only Cael-era wrestler to receive an academic scholarship. Van Cura graduated with a 4.0 in Chemistry and went directly into the PhD program at Harvard.
From a 15-year sample, ROTC is a far more frequent funding source.
I prefer Carlton Hazlerig!Could you imagine having Wyatt Hendrickson as your Lt? Talk about your orders being non-negotiable
