Pujols to the Angels?

An average of 25 million a year. This is a terrible contract for the Angels, but I guess if he continues to get these little nagging injuries that cause him to miss time they have the option that other NL teams don't, and that'sto move him to DH in 4 or 5 years to extend his lifetime in the league. </p>
It's extremely disappointing to see him go.... woud've loved for him to be in STL his entire career... but on the other hand, I'm pretty happy for two reasons:
1) Pujols is making a **** ton of money and he's a great guy, so a lot of it is going to be used for really good things.
2) I'm extremely happy STL isn't paying him that contract.
Now if the Cardinals don't spend that money on the team that they've now saved, I'll be irate. This team still has a lot of great pieces in place to be a really good team for a long time.

in all fairness on the injury front, he pulled a hammy a few years ago that he recovered from quickly and seamlessly, but otherwise he hasn't had any chronic little injuries. sure he had the freak broken wrist last year, but again, he recovered from that faster than anyone expected, and was better post injury than pre-injury. and that's extremely rare for wrist/hand issues in baseball. for most guys, that's gonna lead to a lost season. for pujols, only the couple weeks he missed kept him from reaching his approx expected counting numbers despite a career worst slump to start the season. his batting avg would have probably risen above .300 with a couple extra weeks worth of games while he was hot.<div>

I think a healthy Allen Craig with 550abs. Hits 30 homers and drives in 90+. Once Waino comes back better than ever from TJS we will need the cash to lock him up
As a huge Cardinals fan, much to my wife's dismay I have a Musial and a Pujols ornament on the front side of the tree, I am a little sad but I'm bouyed by the fact El Birdos didn't pay that contract. Maybe somehow it works for them with Albert being a DH the back 1/2 of the contract but 25MM come on, great for the 2015-2022 years for the Cardinals there.
that he is older than his stated age- I've heard that he is really 34. I'd say most baseball players in general start to really break down at age 36, but we'll see.
There are also some injuries that he played through with the Cardianls as well- I remember he had a bad elbow injury. They were even saying that he was going to have to get Tommy John surgery on it.

i don't think there is anything to these rumors. it would have turned up by now, he's way to high profile. and i don't think teams are gonna invest ~$250M over 10 years without feeling pretty confident in his true age. <div>Todd4State said:

Either you don't know how baseball works at all, or you are trolling. The Cardinals had the best NL offense, and Pujols was not the best Cardinals hitter last year. Over a full season Allen Craig is probably only worth 2-3 wins less than Pujols. The return of Wainwright will more than make up for that.oem said:

If the Cardinals don't add a couple of bats to the mix, they will have a hard time scoring runs. Period.
But one thing I always thought was interesting about Pujols was way back when he started he went from A ball to AAA for a very short time and then to MLB. Almost like he was "more mature" than everyone else. Just something to think about.
At any rate- if the rumors aren't true, and they certainly may not be- he will be 32 next year and they will likely get four reasonably productive years out of ten. Either way, it's not a good deal. Unless you are Albert Pujols or his agent of course.

more than anything at this point. I have no idea who that will be. I think the Cardinals put all their eggs in the Albert Pujols basket, and now they're going to have to regroup- which sucks because Jose Reyes is off the market.
They might go after Beltran to fill in for Craig while he recovers, but Beltran is pretty injury prone himself. I would rather see them go after someone like Micheal Cuddyer that can play several positions.

They could lock up some guys like Freese, they could get some big name players next year, and they could trade for some players if they want to and it's a good fit. In addition to that, they're going to lose Berkman, Lohse, and Westbrook in the next couple of years. So, even more salary space cleared up.

Miami is now saying they are taking offers for Hanley Ramirez since he is reluctant to shift to 3B. If i'm Moz' I at least make a phonecall and see what the asking price is.
