Why in the hell do we not have the opposing team shooting facing the student section in the second half? I've been wondering this all year, and cant remember if it has always been that way or not. Several times this year the opposition is shooting critical free throws while their backdrop is a bunch of blue hairs sitting there with their arms crossed. Maybe this is a common thing or a SEC rule, but it seems like you would want the other team shooting against the loud/moving section in the second half.

the seating has changed most definitely since i was a student. i think it has changed at least two times since then (93).

i remember the student section being 1/4 of the oval, not completely behind the backboard and all the way around to half court. we used to face the benches.

i hate to say it though... i wouldn't give up my seat at midcourt, front row just to sit behind the goal and wave a poster. it was much more fun to scream and whoop and holler within the same distance the entire game. of course, there wasn't much distraction needed when Shaq was the one on the free-throw line.
