Is the design made by simply the direction of cut or different hights of grass. Or just a special type of mower. Just trying to get my mind off that crap of the bed 7th inning, and I got now clue how they do it

There are rollers on the mowers that lay the grass down. That's knowing as striping.
And when the sun reflects off of the grass you see
The striping because they are Layed down in opposite directions.
