Question about the series "24" with Jack Bauer

I am stuck at home with a sick wife for the weekend, so I was thinking about getting into 24. I remember catching half of a season years ago, about a Muslim terrorist I think, and it was good.

my question is...

1) Is it a good series?
2) Do I need to watch them all to avoid being confused with characters/plot?
3) If not, which seasons are the best?

It got kind of old and predictable the last few seasons....

But the first few seasons were awesome. Seals one was far and away the best. You will end up watching all of it this weekend.

I started the wire a few weeks ago, which is another great show that I somehow never watched. Just started the second season a few minutes ago

Seasons 1-5 are by far the best

I don't know your motivation for the "Bin Laden like terrorist" but season 1-3 are Superb. To quote Rocky Maivia "It doesn't matter who the terrorists are!"

If your a Directv customer Season 1 of 24 started this week on the Audience Network. I think it's on like four nights a week.

Haha I already watched Homeland and am a big fan. Hate that the latest season just ended. Now I'm almost done with season 1 of 24. Watching it as we speak...good stuff. I'm hooked, so I can't stop watching and go to sleep now.

FAIR WARNING.

The first few seasons are good (the first 3 are outstanding!) but they pretty much run out of ideas by around season 5. The show isn't awful, it just isn't as good and can feel regurgitated at times.
