What kind of stuff are you exactly allowed to do,? Has anyone given you folks a list of things permissable or not permissable?

I have some thoughts but before sharing would like to know guidelines if any before injecting my ideas.

Also. Would you ever welcome a senior alumni into your group for a game if allowed?

1. I would say basically everything deemed appropriate is allowed, there is no exact list of what is allowed or not. Basically just use your head and don't do anything that could get you in trouble.
2. Definitely up for consideration, this opportunity has been in high demand lol, I have been asked that a lot.

I definitely wasn't thinking about anything inappropriate.. lol.
I was thinking about stuff that could really mess with the foul shooting.

1) instead of a consistent disruption that by itself that becomes a consistent static a player could get used to, a coordinated roar/yell/etc just before the player shoots ..everyone sits still then jumps up and yells as they shoot. (mess with them. Requires an conductor).

2) those who could be seen behind the backboard wear orange (the rim) holding white boxes and moving them around so the player sees this thru the clear backboard while trying to focus on the rim/box/ backboard

Sorry. I was an original "disruptor" back at my high school in the late 70's.

I really think there should be a few seats available for alumni crazies ..it would be a unique thing to add to the RACmopshere.

regradless..thank you and the rest for your school spirit and what you bring to the effort!

Just get the whole student section moving from left to right in motion with each other in sync…just start screaming whoa..whoa…try to create vertigo for the shooter

I actually think there is an NCAA rule about posters/signs that mimic an orange rim or backboard/hoop behind the basket. Sadly haha but good idea

You guys should honestly make it a membership.

Free for students.

Non-students pay $50 for the year. Offer a t shirt for joining, maybe a sticker, and put people on an mail list.

I’m sure you’d make plenty of profit and be able to use those funds to organize trips for road games.

Northwestern in their big win at home against Purdue had these long balloons they must have handed out to the students behind the baskets. When the away team was shooting, the students were very distracting waving those balloons during free throws.

I had the same thoughts about item 1.

Also wonder if it would be a mind trip if the student section mimed screaming during foul shooting without making a noise. Not sure if the shooter would easily block that out or notice. But if they did would be really weird looking to look at a bunch of kids “screaming” that weren’t making any sound.
Maybe the mix of item 1, regular screaming and mimed screaming. Leaves them wondering if the scream is coming. Less predictable and more effective?

I would have a printed list of opponents Mothers names and chant them out during free throws. It will get a laugh from the team and break their concentration when they know they go to the line and their Moms name is being chanted. Impossible not to hear that.

as an example...it's like when the home team is shooting and everyone is there with their hands up and they yell "whoosh"/put them down quickly when the shot is made.
Do Just the opposite for visiting team. someone leads them to do it just before the opposing player releases the ball with half waving left or right or in random directions... and just scream!

Orange? We put RED t-shirts on every seat in the student section, for the Nebraska game, and STILL couldn't get all of them to put them on lol!!! PLEASE NO "ORANGE" lol!!!

it would have to be a strategic placement for just the group you could see from thru the backboard ..would you settle for 2012 Rutgers Salmon? :) It would only work if they could also hold white squares... ok, maybe JUST the white squares ..but as noted likely not permissible.

I get it. It’s a great thought.

Also imagine this though.
Watch this video on mute/no volume.
Wouldn’t it be weird and distracting if the students looked like this but made no noise.

Having endured a long and vigorous self-appointment process, I can offer my services as a professional appropriateness judge. I will gladly render a totally fair and reasonable verdict on the appropriateness of any potential activities undertaken to disrupt and/or disturb opposing teams' free throw attempts.

You can absolutely trust me and my good judgement. 😇

1. Visit the opposing team's hotel the night before and pull the fire alarm at 2am and 4am? No harm, no foul, pun intended.

2. Use high-velocity squirt guns and spray the opposing players when they attempt free throws? I see no problem long as you stick to water.

3. Have dozens of ladies in seats right behind the baskets leap up, pull up their shirts, and start bobbing and weaving right before the foul shot? What happens at the RAC stays at the RAC, say no more.

Any other suggestions? I think you'll find me strict, but reasonable.

that would be just like when I talk to my wife at times....I think I'm saying something but she doesn't seem to hear anything :)

I think while it may be a bit weird the fact that you're removing one of the two key distractions might actually make it easier to focus. Players eyes are focused on the rims but the ears are always open. Perhaps the total silence and then just a few scream at the key moment..

clearly there are lots of options and up to you all ...

@RutgersRiotSquad it seems like the student section, as a whole, is a little "mellow" this season (compared to the last few). Any thoughts as to why? Thx!
Probably because they need me to offer up more suggestions but were afraid to approach me, what with my tremendous celebrity status as a world-renowned appropriateness judge. This awe and fear thing apparently happens a lot, judging by how infrequently people come to me for suggestions on appropriateness.

This is the kind of stuff they do at Duke (or at least use to do). Each student gets a printout with info about the other team's roster.

I wouldn't say it's been as mellow, I would say the home schedule hasn't been as crazy as years past. Last years stretch of #13 Michigan State, #16 Ohio State, @ #14 Wisconsin, and #12 Illinois (Blackout), would be impossible to match. Like it or not, we saw what the "silly ranking number" does to crowds earlier this year when Indiana came to town. You aren't going to get the same level of crowd for a Minnesota or Nebraska (on Valentines day). Just my two cents...however I will tell you that tonight is going to be a madhouse!!

Duke students do some weird things, a lot of what they do seems pretty forced to be honest. We aren't going to encourage a printout of the other team's roster with information on their families etc.

I agree with this TBH but there are other "creative" things to do aside from the floats (which I do love!) if you're looking to add to the repertoire!

This whole idea of 50 years olds trying to sit in the riot section remind me of Rodney in Back to School

I was thinking of suggesting the use of an airhorn similar to the way it was used during the diving competition in Back To School.

I was not allowed to wear the "Who needs a Valentine when I have Rutgers Men's Basketball" shirt, however I had my scarlet on😂. A fair trade off for being able to go to the game on Valentines day lol

Back in the 1970s, there was a guy at the Mets games in Shea Stadium who used to have signs that had unique sayings for different situations and players, and he would hold up different signs depending on the situation. I've always liked this idea, and it would work well with some of our guys:

"Now That's Omoruyi"

"Mag-nificent!"

"Headband Highlights!"

"Grand Hyatt!" (for Aundre Hyatt)

"Dean Threeber!"

[The Wolf mask for Woolfolk] or "Hungry Like the Woolf!"

Riot squad needs to get on juwan tonight. Need chants regarding the slap and get under his skin . They failed to do this last year against guard and Wisconsin and we lost the the game due to it
I actually like this a lot. I'd be ALL OVER that db from about 20-minutes prior to the opening tip!

Yeah they failed last year against Wisconsin . I told them to do it and they didn’t …and then we lost

Listen to Plum

They’re obviously not gonna go after the players - I don’t agree with it, but hey, it’s their choice (rolls eyes, lol...) - but Howard is 100% fair game. The only unlikable member of The Fab 5 in college and the only one unlikable to this day. He's an asshatdouchebagpunkassbitch all wrapped into one. GO AFTER HIM HARD!!!
