Does the fact that the rebels have the largest rivals membership and the fact that everytime they get a commit, they usually bump that commit in the ratings lead the fansto have unrealistic expectations on gameday?

that Rivals is selling stars. There are no rules around recruiting rankings and they are doing what is best for their bottom line. We all know that they look at a highlight tape at best and then rate people, it's a total sham of a system. Recruiting ranking have never won a game and in most cases the history shows them to be completely false and a poor indicator of future results.

Now, this is not to say that Ole Miss doesn't have some good recruits this year (although I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them have second thoughts when looking at what is happening in Oxford). Fans looking at these rankings is fun and all but when coaches start doing it that is a warning sign. The coach should be looking for the right players to fill holes, not looking to increase the average starts or national ranking of a recruiting class. This is another reason I find Nutt to be a coach who is focused on a lot of the wrong things.

Is Nutt focused on Rivals recruiting ratings?

...off he top of my head, from my experience w/ Rivals I would say that Bama, Florida, FSU and Miami all have larger numbers.

seems to suggest that Nutt is a guy who will sign a kid he knows doesn't have any chance of getting in to school in order to pad that recruiting rating. I think it's stupid but if you have fans/alumni/supporters who follow these rankings then it makes some sense to try and inflate them. I for one would rather have a coach that wins on the field than wins some made-up recruiting war. To answer your question bluntly, yes. And there is a new SEC rule to prove it.
