If Greg had stayed what would be different about our athletic dept. today ? I`m asking this because I really don`t know whether things would be better or worse but I suspect some things would be different. What say you ?
Never understood the deification of Byrne other than he was the anti Larry Templeton. Anybody would have fired the incompetent Croom. Dan Mullen is a work in progress. Yeah he went toe to toe with Ron Polk but he also stabbed Raffo in the back when he was promised the State job. Most people don't realize John Cohen was almost fired after his first two years at State not because of his record, but because of how he treated people. There were a lot of people who talked to Cohen who told him if he kept treating players and others like crap he was gone. To his credit John has heeded that advice somewhat.
Another thing about Byrne, how many athlectic directors in the last 50 years in the sec have left after less than 2 years. Sec AD jobs are destination jobs, yet Byrne hightailed his *** out Starkville as soon as he could. He loved MSU so much. So please quit telling me about how great Byrne was. He used State like an damn old man used a corncob to wipe his ***. And no I'm not Lar Templeton. Didn't like him either.
