been following and going through the heartaches since '69 when I was 6... the ole miss game was always the most important... for the first time, there is a game that may rival the anxiety of the egg bowl and yes, I will admit, I get anxiety every time we kick off a football game... the degree has always varied depending on the situation and the opponent but I think for the 1st time , this year, the AU game may squeak it's way into that same category of importance as the egg bowl.. maybe because I've never seen us beat ole miss 3 times in a row...maybe it's the cam newton ****..., maybe it's that 17ing AU retard who talks about mullen being on the hot seat... maybe it's shuley's remark... whatever the reason... I just may very well be as fired up about a regular season game other than ole miss than I ever have in my 42 years of following the Bullies... what's yall's take?

Now, about the content of your ramble, I agree completely. With ole miss being so, so far down, and so many near misses against auburn, plus the cam stuff, we're all bitter. I want blood.

..year-in & year-out, Auburn just has better players than MSU.

I would like to beat them this fall, but don't see it happening.

And there is no way I will ever be as nervous about a game with Auburn as I am before an Egg Bowl.

Don't try because you can't win. Wow. That's some serious MSU fan logic there.

But no, AU will never be as important to me as the Egg Bowl, but it's too the point that it's close now, easily second.

where ronny tried to argue how much better than us auburn was, and all hell broke loose.

My point has always been that over the past 5 years, 4 of the games were 1 possession games. We're literally a chip shot FG, a caught pick 6 hitting us in the numbers, and a goal line pitch away from taking 4 of the last 5. The coin has just landed on tails more than it has heads in that series lately.

Sauron saying we shouldn't try to win are not the same thing. Was just pointing that out. He should never comment on someone's logic ever again.

I'm a bit different in that I got out of state after grad school, so my hatred of all things ole mess has waned somewhat since I'm not surrounded by those idiots.

I still hate ole miss more than any other team. I used to hate LSU, but until we break the voodoo hex jinx (see mullen's first year) against them, I have resigned myself to a loss.

BUT I agree, I used to like auburn and now hate them. We should have won several of these past years, but random **** has skewed the record. (a pick six that was dropped by our DBs against Cam Newton, Relph not quite making it at, or the ballard dive over the pylon) etc etc. They have been good, tight games, and fun as hell to watch.

Plus of all the engineers I have met, I've had less respect for auburn ones as opposed to other SEC schools (ole miss excluded since they don't have engineers imo).

I think words like "static" and "dynamic" much less words like, "thread-safe" are too hard for Au folks.

...I have never come here & argued how much better Auburn is than us, much less recently.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

If you can find that link, I want to see it.

It was that ******* shug jordan that started the movement to get out cowbells banned. Back in the late 80's, during the Felker era, we were trying to break up the Nov. "murders row" schedule that had us on the road at Au., Ala, and LSU in the odd no. years. LT made a gentleman's agreement w/ au to play them at au 2 yrs in a row to break this up and then au backed out on the agreement so we wound uo playing them 3 yrs. in a row at au. And all the stuff Mutt said. I hate their guts the cheatin bastards.

What Schmuley said goes x 2 for me.

Given anything can always happen on a Saturday, but tsun is by far a lower tier sun belt team at the moment. It really is comical how comparible, possibly worse than jackie's last year they are. With that being said, it really makes me sick how bad we should've beaten the barner's the last couple of years. Really can't explain the anger I get from listening to those idiots try to reason out how cam just went there out of the goodness of his heart. Plus, chizik literally looks and acts like he is mentally disabled. Whoever had their hand up his *** all this time, does a real mark-up job, on how well they don't move their lips, while they throw their voice.

And was devastated by that heartbreaker of a loss.

I badly want to beat Auburn this year too. But after last year, I've got some resistance against emotional investment...which I'll throw to the wind at some point during our game this year.

must whip that Tiger *** this year, otherwise we're their *****. And oh yes, the University of Mississippi will always be the ultimate climax to our season, and thatcontest must result in avictory for the Maroon Bulldogs of Mississippi State University.

last year would pretty much satisfy me.

Alabama and Arkansas are FAR more like the rivalry with OM.

If you want fans like OM move to Nashville. Vandy fans are just as delusional, pompous, and ignorant.

Ah, the good old sixpack way of doing things. If you can't refute someone's logic, you just insult and browbeat them until you feel like you won.

.....perfect description of them. I hate to stereotype a whole group but they are the only people the legitimately are ready to fight if you criticize the holy aura that is the Auburn family.

They do have a better talent pool year in and year out, but that logic doesnt hold up in any one year. THey arent better coached now.

Sauron, you seemed to miss his point. There is no conclusion of 'not trying', just that expecting to with regard to talent in most years leaves one to conclude that we wont beat them most years.

Beating Auburn will this year make us all happy for a few weeks even if we lose to bama. But not if we lose to OM.

If I had to pick one of the two, I'll take losing to Auburn and beating Bama. Here is my pecking order when it comes to rivalries.

OM
Alabama
Arkansas
Auburn
LSU
UT
Florida
Georgia
UK
Vandy
S Carolina

I dont have an opinion of T A&M or Missouri yet.

but it's pretty close.

My rivalries

OM
AU
LSU
Bama
UK

We haven't beaten LSU in ages. It's the only reason they made the cut. Unlike most State fans, I don't hate Bama. I dislike them kind of, but I don't hate them.

That said, if we don't beat the Barn this year, it won't happen. They lost their number one running back, IMO their most consistent QB, and two coaches, one of them a huge piece of their recent success. Their transitioning to an entirely new system on offense, one that I don't think Frazier is suited for. And they have two tough opponents in back to back weeks on the road.

Now, I hate the history argument as much as any of you, but what happened the last time Auburn changed to a new offense in the off season? Yeah, they beat us 3-2, right, but they were probably comparably as talented then as they are now. Where as we are way better now than we were then.

Just sayin it's possible.

normally don't try as hard. Not expecting to win is tantamount to not giving it your all. Ronny was more-than-likely not saying that we shouldn't try, but that is where that brand of logic almost always leads.

At any rate, we won't play the insult war. I mean, we're not 12, right?

...I want them humiliated. I want to destroy them to the extent that Chiziktried to do we he ranthe score up on us in '09. I want to taste the tears of the Barners as they leave Starkville.
