Question for those who think Stansbury won't get fired.

Did you base that on the fact youfigured we would at least finish .500 in the SEC? After today, I don't think we can finish 8-8 in the SEC. So if we go 5-11 or 6-10 in the SEC and miss the NIT, do you still feel the same way? If that happens, I don't see how we can keep Stansbury.

building up capital during a long tenure, and Stans has that here. How often have you seen a long time coach keep his job way too long and run a program into the ground (it's happened here recently) because a rapport was built with an AD and that obscured the AD's vision?

At this point, I don't see how anyone could stand behind Stans, but I really worry about whether Stricklin will give him "another chance" or not. The Ninja was not afraid to cut people loose, and I hope Strick won't be either.

Because there will be no turn around next year. You have seen all Stansbury has to offer as a coach. There is no magic rabbit to pull out of a hat.

He'll pull a rabbit out out his hat. We'll win the SEC T, get a 16 seed, and lose first round. People will say you can't fire a NCAA Tourney coach.

don't wont to lose their place...know quite a few like that.
The Hump NOW sells out to keep the seats.
Not supporting Stans, just being real about where we are.

Our fan base won't show up to these games if this continues. Student tickets are free, and soon they will stop coming. This is ridiculous, and we have to make a change. Let Stansbury finish the season, then fire his *** and get us a coach. For those who think we can't get a coach, shut the hell up. We are an SEC school with a brand new practice facility and some decent basketball history. We can get a good mid major coach to come here. Stop being scared of change and think rationally. We are a joke right now, and weneed a new direction.

No matter if he has not made it deep in the Dance or won the big game, he has been successful with more winning seasons than losing ones.

But, when it is clear that the program is in a very bad state as it looks it is now, the leash gets much shorter. I still think he gets one more season because of his history but I could be wrong.

I still would almost bet he would walk away himself before he was fired. Just a hunch.

I would sit down with Rick at the end of season and tell him next year will be his last year as the coach of Mississippi State University. I dont care if he takes us to a Final Four - next year will be it. They dont have toannounceitif they dont wantto deal with it publically, but that is what I would do and here are my reasons why :

1- his contract buyout would probably be lower next year
2- he has already built a very strong recruiting class next year- Smith , Garner, and Hood - we need to keep it together - also Moultrie will be available
3- Sidney and Bost will most likely be back next year if they both keep playing like this - let Rick lay in his own mess with these two guys one last time
4- we need new blood in the program
5- he has stayed 13 seasons, and passed the 10 year rule for a coach at one program

Im not saying we need to do a coach in waiting deal - ALA Bill Stewart at West Virgina - but I do think it would help with the class we are bringing in and also begin moving the program in a new direction . It would also give Stricklin plenty of time to get feelers out there as to who might be interested in the position.

It will be significant. I know several who decided to give up their tickets before this season. It is over for Stansbury I'm afraid. Waiting another year is delaying the inevitable. I suppose a miracle could occur and he turns the team around this year but from what I witnessed in the home SEC opener beatdown by a at best mediocre Alabama team does not bode well for that to happen. You think Stansbury, Cunninghan, and George Brooks will do a better job next year minus Johnson, Bost, Sydney, and Augustus? Time to flush. This turd has been floating around the toilet bowl for 4 years now. If you knew anything about basketball you would have realized this long before this season.

First time I can remember it not selling out in season tickets. We have single game tickets available for SEC games this year because of this. I bet we have more available for next year.

and that means it isnt 3 million

I would guess 1.5-1.8 with 3 years left on his deal- but that is purely speculation

Unlike football people have no reason to renew tickets if the product sucks. With a reseat every year, just make your normal bulldog club donation, and save your basketball season ticket money for the year. You will see a big drop next year. I think they said 200 seats went unsold for 2010-2011. Next year I bet it will be closer to 1,000 if this keeps up.
