1. What will his coaching position be?
2.What kind of jack did it take for him to give up a Head Coaching job?
3. Could his motivation be to get his foot into big college football with the hopes of moving up?

Please try to explain to me. I can't figure out is he an Assistant coach or Coordinator. I can see him leaving North Alabama for a OC job but to be a assistant? Am I missing somthing?

Thanks!

that Hud was told by his AD that "if you have an offer from MState you need to take it." I know, typical BS. Reb said that Hud likes the co-eds too much and he mistakenly dabbled with a large booster's "precious pearl". aGAIN, I say BS, but makes for an interesting story.

No...he has no intentions of moving up. From this point on, he only wants to go down or laterally in the coaching ranks.

He just married a UNA coed a few months ago or at least that's what I was told by someone that knows him well.

Mullen may be trying to use us as a stepping stone. the only way to do that is by turning the program around and winning. who else than the up and coming former HC turned coordinator/assistant would we consider hiring to keep the ball rolling? i think it makes sense. it is a gamble though.

He'll make more as an assistant at MSU than he would as HC at UNA. He can always go back down if needed.

But since he was not hired by Mullen, there's no doubt he's next in line if he plays his cards right.

Apparently he was single, and he married the chick.

Kudos to Hud.

Oh, and I believe that Hudspeth will be the OC and also coach WR's. I think Mullen will also have a big say in the offense as well. I hope Hudspeth can really bring O'Neal Wilder along. With his raw talent, he could be very special with proper coaching.

also, it makes a lot of sense to hire someone who may be groomed by the person that we hope will turn us around.

"1. What will his coaching position be?"

Hasnt this been stated already? Coaching WR's and passing game coordinator...we'll find out when the staff is complete as to who will call plays on Saturday

"2.What kind of jack did it take for him to give up a Head Coaching job?"

We paid Woody a couple hundred thousand, Hud is worth twice that. I'm figure we got him for 250-300K

"3. Could his motivation be to get his foot into big college football with the hopes of moving up?"

His motivation is to be a D-1 head coach. If Mullen takes off in 2-3-4 years, we may already have his replacement on campus. This is a logical step for any coach.

I've already explained we are not going to have an official OC. We are going to have 2 coordinators with one of them calling plays. Whats so hard about this?

Your track record has not been great lately, so people dont really listen to you.

I think is 10x better than Woody. It's unbelievable how much he robbed from MSU.

1. I said back in September Crooms was gone- what happened there?
2. Petersen took the job and then backed out- not my fault
3. Night before Mullen was announced I said my source told me we had our coach, but wouldnt tell me the name. Now I did assume it was Wilson instead of Mullen, but i'd say my track record has been pretty damn good.

Allow me to add what I said about firing Crooms would not hurt recruiting, but help it. How's that going for us?

I think Crooms stole more than Woody did. I think Woody, while not very good, was hampered by Crooms desire to be ultraconservative

You got 1 out of 3 and made excuses for the 2 you got wrong. Are you Yancy Porter?

Anyone could have seen that things were looking bad for Sly after a 1-4 start in September with a loss to LaTech.

He was right on Petersen (sorry, hate to call another Rebel out on a Bulldog board) and it was down to Wilson and Mullen after that.

Wilson turned it down. If Mullen fell through, Hudspeth was going to be the HC.

And the one of three that was right was so generic that the proverbial blind squirrel could have picked it out.

I didnt say it was looking bad for him, I said the money had been raised to buy him out. And what happened? We bought him out. Oh, and nice of you to leave out the recruiting part too

you did constantly say that croom was gone and that the money was there. and there were a lot of people on this board that said it wasn't true and wouldn't happen this year after the SEC COY last year.

i bet i told you so feels good after your betting record this past season...or did that turn around for you? i stopped reading the line posts after a while.

Your post above says nothing about money. You said "Croom was gone". Two totally different things.

I doubt Croom gets fired if he wins the Egg Bowl. You may have guessed and been right.

Would it amuse you to know I inboxed the owner of this board the details about Petersen and Hudspeth long before anything was official....and before Hudspeth's name was mentioned here?

what he usually tells me usually comes to fruition. I am still trying to figure out why though he needed to tell us today was a good day to be a Rebel.

It's not a big deal. I'm not a Bulldog, so I don't expect everyone (or anyone) here to like me.

Over the years I have been/still am personal friends with some MSU coaches, AD personnel, Foundation people, Admin and large boosters. Sometimes I hear a few things that end up being true. Other times (especially regarding MSU) I am dead wrong.

As for the 'Good day to be a Rebel' comment, somethings take time to come out.

It's common sense if you factor in ESPN money, and the amount of money that we would have lost by keeping Croom, plus how much it would actually take to buy out Croom.

My worst case scenario- buying out coaches and paying new ones- came out to 10 million at the worst. I think the actual number ended up being closer to about 6-7 million all told to pay Croom and his buddies and to hire Mullen.

We caught a couple of breaks in the Seal money (not that I would hope someone would die to get their money, but it helped in this scenario) and the fact that we got Mullen for 1.2 million when we were willing to pay at least 3 million for an experienced coach.

and I tend to post fairly often. And I posted after the GaTech game that the money was raised to buy him out. And I posted it quite a few times. So f*ck you if you didnt read it

If that is true, someone who knows all of the dealings in this search as well as Byrne did lied to me. It is possible, but he has never lied to me before.

Petersen gave the verbal and then got cold feet, much like Miles did with Michigan last year
