What is the best BBQ in Memphis that fans should partake of while bowling and what is the specialty of the house? Let the debate begin ;)

Rendezvous and little Dooey Suck. Dreamland is overrated **

Let's go ahead and get that out of the way...

You must want someone to get shot starting a best Memphis BBQ thread.

If your hotel is near 55 and Goodman road I'll put a plug in for Memphis BBQ company.

Showboat BBQ (Ridgway at Fox Ridge)
Three Little Pigs BBQ (White Station at Quince)

These two are the best by far.

No one mentioned Interstate, lol. I love the ribs and agree that Dreamland isn't what it originally was 20 years ago so looking for a good rib place. Anywhere have a decent brisket?

Central now has a place downtown across from the Civil Rights Museum so you can get good bbq in a touristy area.

Central. But I'll go ahead, I love going to the 'Vous

But, I don't get ribs. I always get a chopped plate, and it's excellent. And the sausage and cheese plate is just awesome. But it's the atmosphere I like, and I don't care if it's overrated, I always hit that spot when in town. Too bad Michelob quit making kegs.

Rendezvous has turned into a tourist trap. Its a great experience, it is unique, but everybody knows about it. The food, at this point, is not as good as it once was. Thats not to say it is bad, but its not the best Memphis has to offer.

Central BBQ is highly regarded by a lot of people. I believe its the #1 BBQ joint on one of Urbanspoon/Trip Advisor. I liked it, but I have had better.

The original Corkys is available. Let me say that this is much better than the Corkys chains that are out there, but most people have had Corkys at one point or another, so you may not want it.

Interstate BBQ is unique in that they offer BBQ spaghetti. I liked their rib meat, but I wasnt a huge fan of their sauce.

The Germantown Commissary has great pulled pork, but it is also very small. You need to eat there at an odd time of the day to get a seat.

Memphis BBQ Co, to me, is the best place to take a large group. They have an extensive menu, so you will be able to please people easily and they have a high quality BBQ offering.

The BBQ Shop is my co-favorite for Memphis. They have my favoirte sauce and an incredible set of ribs. I believe that USA Today voted them top 10 at one time.

My other favorite is the Cozy Corner. Dont go there at night, as you will see bars on windows all around you. It is right next to St. Jude and they have a great, great set of ribs. I wasnt as impressed with their BBQ sandwich, but they also had great Banana Pudding.

Topps is overrated.

Tom's or Interstate

i have only tried the pulled pork sandwich at both.

i can only recommend the Interstate BBQ on stateline in Southaven as that is the only location I have eaten.

Cookston, one of the owners, attended State football and basketball games as....

...a teenager. For what its worth. Maybe still a fan.

Glad someone mentioned the original Corky's, which I think is pretty good BBQ - chopped pork for the win. I hardly ever get ribs outside of my backyard.

Red Robin

Nobody asked, but a burger chain I wish we had in Mississippi is Red Robin.
We usually stop by one of these in Memphis.
A good burger place to take the wife and kids.

Do FORGET Gus' chicken

Unless, you have a couple hours to kill on terrible service and marginal fried chicken served on a styrofoam plate with terrible sides. If you like all that, you will like Gus'.

Red Robin? Really? Overpriced and remarkably average. They are everywhere here in Texas, and trust me when I say this is NOT something missing in Mississippi.

In no order (except by dish)...

BBQ SHOP - pulled pork sandwich, bbq spaghetti, anything with dancing pigs sauce, rub (dayum good)
Central - sausage and cheese plate (best item on menu), bbq sammich
Interstate - bbq nachos
Germantown Commissary - brunswick stew, bbq nachos, sammich, bread pudding
Blues City Cafe - ribs, tamales (best ribs in memphis)

I'll second that. Also, Belmont Grill East Memphis great burgers and fries. Huey's does not disappoint either (california burger)

I can eat the Top's on State Line/Main St in Southaven without the sauce, It is that good.
Have recently been to One and Only on Perkins at Poplar twice, smoked leg quarter chicken was very good, ribs ok but not as good as Corky's on Poplar at Clark Towers.
There is still a Leonards on Fox Plaza but I find the pulled pork dry, however they have the best fried catfish you will eat anywhere on the buffet, might add they are over priced on the buffet in my opinion but I am cheap.
