due to his teamates and not necessarilly due to the coach.

My original thought in response to the post was that if one wanted to manufacture the argument that Rick is a good coach, they can simply say that Moultrie is better than he was at UTEP.

That is just exquisite ********.

Moultrie is better, we can all agree. You say that the reason Sidney is better because of another player. I say Moutrie is better because of outside factors other than the coach.

Naming off players like some have done in this thread as evidence that Stans develops players is the same exquisite ********. He recognizes and recruits as good as anyone and that talent rises to the top like cream. MY contention, is that the limit to which that talent under Rick has reached is EVIDENCE he doesnt develop players very well. I know everyone will call this the Coach34 argument, but it isnt his. The proof of that pudding is in the eating.Stans teamshave consistantly fallen shy of what the talent was capable of. The difference in the teams that make it further is the mind of the coach. Plain and simple.

He's not to blame for every misfortune of the team. He's not to be credited for every great moment. He's to be evaluated on what he does with what he has. He's failed in 2 areas:

1. Finding an assistant that can x and o a team to maximize their talent.
2. Set standards that PREVENT the poor behavior he has to constantly correct.

I'm not advocating getting rid of Rick, but neither will I let him off the hook. We arent in a position to do better when it comes to the money it will take to get a higher calibre coach. But there is a difference in the bitchers and moaners and those who recognize that Rick has hit a wall in his ability to take this team where it CAN go.

Surely you see the irony in saying Stansbury has hit a wall and taken us as far as he can go when we are ranked 15th in the nation. I do not think Stans is a coaching genius but there is a time to piss and moan and a time to enjoy the ride.
