It is possible to build loudness into the design the same way it is possible to soften sound in an enclosed space by design.
the engineers can add hard fill panels to amplify the sounds inside the arena. Anything is possible. The RAC is outdated and was built on the cheap. If we want to compete I. The BIG we need to have state of the art facilities. The RAC ain’t cutting it.
I agree with this. If we could build a new arena with the same design to keep the crowd noise I'm all in. Don't see why anybody would oppose this type of a plan, it's not like the RAC has some sort of mythical status or rich history. It's all about the crowd noise and if we can keep that advantage, everything else can be updated to actual 21st century amenities and materials.

Have there been stabbings inside Madison Square Garden or the Prudential Center?
Does it matter if it's inside?

There was an unprovoked stabbing just outside MSG in 2022. People get stabbed in the subways/trains that people take to get to MSG.

There was a double-stabbing inside the Prudential center in 2014.

I'm guessing there are plenty of stabbings at or around both places.

A fight occurred at the Cure arena and one of the participants was stabbed as as result. It happens.

And then there's this, where 3 people were stabbed at the RU business school in 2016:

I would imagine if it does ending up we leave the RAC and go to Trenton, Rutgers will treat those events like they do for gameday at the Stadium…with a very heavy presence.

Just like it is for a NJPAC performance or a Devils game now. Can’t speak how they do it for shoe games, cause I don’t care. LOL

Just shift the football tailgate security budget to basketball that year. Everybody wins
That’s what I posted above.

If it happens, bet we see the overload we experience on gameday.

Prudential Center security is best of breed
Professional

NJPAC I think has (1) Newark police officer

I find it hard to believe someone is going to make the final decision to actually not play games at the RAC for a year

this.

the impact would be ENORMOUS

who is going to Trenton on December 23 to see RU play Central Connecticut State

who is going to see RU play Minnesota for a Sunday 630 game in January.

are students and other peeps trekking to Prudential to see RU play Penn State on a Thursday night at 7

Rutgers would be giving up a whole season basically....a whole season with their best recruits ever

After what they have done to 118, moving the student section further and further away, I’m petrified of any renovations to the RAC.

And they should be creative so we don’t have to lose a year. That’s stupid.

remember travelling to different locations for one game is okay for most..even two...but when all the games are away that is where the impact if felt.

The non conference games attendance will be absolute garbage, might as well play as many away games to jersey schools at possible at that point

Yup - not going to happen. I don't know why so many people enjoy speculating about it so much.
Well it’s not speculation. We’ve been told by our mods and by insider RU72 that it’s likely we’d spend a season away from the RAC.

Hopefully, Hobbs & Co. find a way to keep us in the RAC during the renovations.

Try reading the entire thread next time and figure out to behave correctly. Only one triggered individual here and it ain’t me. I’m not afraid of big, bad Newark.
Who are you calling “triggered” Pete?

So, a man was stabbed to death inside of the Trenton arena last week, has that ever happened on the RU campus in an arena or stadium?

Hobbs cannot take an entire season away from The RAC.

It happened in an RU classroom, 3 people stabbed. Happens all over the place.

He’s got a red *** because I called him out on another thread. Now he’s unearthing old posts of mine. I fully expect my uneventful tax returns to be shared here by him soon.

Who were you calling triggered?

in another thread you said that when someone uses that term it’s a cop out.

Please tell us. Be consistent.

Are you in favor of leaving The RAC for a year?

Okay, one more response because you are boring me at this point. Clearly from the post you quoted I was responding to someone who made the played out triggered reference. And I would rather not play away from the RAC for a year because it would suck for me given where I live. But I’ll still do my best to get to the games and support the program no matter what happens. You good now? I give you credit for unearthing that post - it’s the most work you probably did all day. 😁

You can't. It's against building code to build an arena like the RAC now.

The pull out bleachers help a lot with the noise. You can her the students stomping on them. We don't need a club lounge or whatever they've got planned between the 100's/200's. simply blow out the front and create a beautiful entrance/atrium with the ticket office, climate controlled entry, hall of fame, more bathrooms, some type of nice food options. Expand 118 up to match the current student section. Under that you can create a club lounge with a nice bar etc for the donors. It's 2 hours, in the winter, not an event all day like football. Capacity would increase 1,000-1,500 seats. Honestly, we don't need more than that. Just the Jersey Mikes sponsorship should cover that without any disruption.

I couldn’t agree more with this. There is so much under-utilized space out front. We really need a concourse with breathing room and some extra amenities. Really don’t need to mess as much with the guts of the RAC.

I do think we neee more upgrades luxury seating though. My friend went and sat in the new 118 and it was great so much better used than how it used to be.

End of the day the name of the game is money. The more money we make the more we can increase the operating budget. We already got a few donors to throw nice sized cash via NIL to get 5 star recruits, let’s compliment it with growing the programs fiscal capabilities.

Been saying the same for years.

Steve - I would love to keep the bleachers BUT these plans do a couple things:

1) more student seating
2) moves students closer to the baseline (again; never should’ve been moved back to begin with…)
3) enclosing those corners will make it even louder

The only students stomping, btw, are the band members…..not sure why the rest of them haven’t caught on…BUT if they could somehow figure out a way to fill in the corners AND keep bleachers with that end that would be sweet!!!

You lose the bleachers (and not just talking about the ones on the endlines) you lose the ability to use the whole floor of the facility for other things.

The corners can still be used/closed off with the wing type of pullouts other buildings use.

Don’t know how a half empty 118 kicking out the most loyal fans in the RAC is so much better. Penny wise and pound foolish. Was ridiculous to mess with the footprint.

Maybe we start a social media campaign that boycotts Jersey Mike if they take the RAC away from us.
My head is going to explode if we actually play away from the RAC when we finally have all this recruiting momentum.
I just won’t believe Pikiell let’s that happen.

I like your point but how about with a slight twist…
Social Media campaign that we heard rumblings that Jersey Mike’s also sees all the momentum and is considering stepping up in a big way to make sure the renovations are done in the off-season only.
Hail them the heroes for making sure we never play a season away. The blow that **** up on SM.
Make them too red in the face to not help.

What “other things?” Can still have other skirts there,, concerts, etc…not sure what you’re talking about?

The old one looked like a bunch of parents at a CYO or middle school game.

Make it a real Section 118 like @SF88 suggested…don’t get rid of them, get more of them.

Again:

Begin any interior renovations that would hinder playing games there immediately upon a season ending and be sure that the schedule to complete is fine well prior to game 1 of the following season. Exterior renovations (even the lobby area) can be ongoing during the season (a little inconvenient yes but better than the other option).
