Go to the John Deer Landscape store, get something with 24-D. Will stunt everything but only the good comes back. Spray it on, keep kids and animals off it for 8 hours.

Similar question re MSMA/herbicide weed control.....

I sprigged and sodded a bunch of zoysia grass in some bare spots in my bermuda yard. Doing pretty well but a lot of weeds including fescue, crabgrass, etc have popped up amongst sprigs. Stuff that 2-4d won't touch. I'm worried about spraying MSMA because I don't want to stunt the plugs. Anything else I should/could spray that won't do much if any damage to zoysia?

If I apply preemerge this fall, will it set back my zoysia?

There really aren't any good controls for Dallisgrass since MSMA was removed from the market. It's on a few labels of some very expensive herbicides, but nothing really works that well.

Your best bet, unless it's the whole lawn, is to just blow holes in it with roundup and let the bermuda fill back in. You could also just remove it manually, but you'd better be sure to get most of the underground parts as well to prevent regrowth.

If you blow holes in the lawn to get rid of it, fertilize immediately to speed up regrowth.

Can still get it in Pontotoc. I know it was banned beginning jan 1st but they still get it and sell it.

So when did they outlaw MSMA?? I've still got a half bottle of the stuff. Works great on weeds in Zoysia and Bermuda. Kinda stunts the good stuff for awhile, but it comes back strong and crowds out the weeds quick.

Again, is it outlawed? Used to buy it regularly at my local coop.

If you have it, you can use it until it's gone as long as application are consistent with the labeling.

If you have a lot of broadleaf weeds, get some Manor or Blade (or anything with the active ingredient metsulufon methyl). It's quite safe on warm season grasses and smokes most broadleaves. You'll need something different for the grassy weeds. If you have crabgrass, MSMA will work if you can get it. If not, you'll need something with quinclorac to control it (Drive, Q4). You could spend a lot of money for two small containers of these herbicides, but they'll last you a long *** time.

Pre-emergent shouldn't hurt the zoysia as long as you stay withing the labeled rates.

Its not being produced anymore. You can buy it as long as someone has it in stock. I have three boxes, place your bids boys.

Got to love the EPA and their knee jerk reactions.

"Multiple public comment periods followed the ruling and the response from various facets of agriculture was overwhelming. The MSMA task force, an alliance of chemical companies that manufacture the product, and the cotton industry formulated a response. Concerns were raised on a number of issues about the ruling, particularly that no information was provided regarding the type of arsenic detected in the water (i.e., organic or inorganic), the source of the arsenic found, and that there was no way to conclusively say that the arsenic was from applications of MSMA."
