The question about keeping Lindgren as the Sunday starter made me starting thinking about how I'd rank our guys:

Holder
Graveman
Pollo
Bracewell
R. Mitchell
Girodo
Lindgren
Bradford
Pitts
Cox

if we're not going to play Norris in the field much might as well see if he's got any potential on the mound. I really though Fitts or Cox would be key to the bullpen, but they haven't been used much at all in SEC play so I have no idea what we really have there. When you consider the absolute implosion Woodruff/E.Mitchell had our staff has held up relatively well.

I'd like to see Norris throw too because at least he throws strikes. I'm still convinced that he has some nagging injuries with the knee that has prevented him from pitching.

CT obviously doesn't get the same amount of bull-pen time and work with his pitching as the others so that is the only reason I have him ranked last. I am big believer on our starters. They have got to produce for us to make it far into the post season

Based on how they are performing RIGHT NOW:

Holder
Bracewell
R. Mitchell
Pollo
Graveman
Girodo
Fitts
Lindgren

At this point lost all faith in Cox, Gentry and E. Mitchell. Also I'm not sure that the 3 complete games in a row didn't somehow do a number on Graveman because he hasn't been the same pitcher since. Also only the Lindgren game against Auburn kept him out of the Cox, Gentry, EMitchell category because in his last three SEC starts (Vandy, Bama, OM) he has thrown a WHOPPING total of 4.2 innings and given up 9 earned runs.

Also, did John Marc Shelly fall off the face of the earth? I thought he was really good in non conference play and he hasn't pitched in two months.

I like Kendall but Graveman second? He has been rocked since his last complete games. Cohen and Butch just leave him in and let him work out of it all the while giving up 5+ runs. On the other hand they pull Lindgren about as quickly as you can without letting him work through it. I can understand that one is a sophomore and the other a senior.

Also, it's two completely different roles being a starter and a reliever. So it's hard to compare the two. Holder and the other relievers can come in and go max effort for an inning or two and fill up the zone with two pitchesas hard as they can while Pollo and the rest of the starters need to create outs over multiple innings trying not to show the same pitches in multiple at bats against them.

Last weekend was a great example of what I'm talking about.

One of the reasons I don't see us going very far in post-season this year is we have virtually NO dependable starters to speak of at the moment. Pollorena is our most reliable right now and giving it is all but he is by no means elite talent wise. We are going to have a LOT of trouble matching up with the aces from other teams in the post season.

All the starters have had their moments and games where they've pitched very well. With our deep bullpen, as long as Cohen has a quick hook if the starter doesn't really have it, we should be better equipped than most teams to pitch games by committee if we need to. I see no reason this team shouldn't be able to win a regional.

I think it depends on what you want. It's different if I need 3 outs or if I need a SP
