Linda's still has pretty good pizza. Right in the neighborhood, so we get it often. Giovanne's in Joliet is also good, used to be a Salarnos.

I agree...Linda's had good pizza even in the '80s when I was going to St. Francis (right off campus on Taylor).

I cannot believe nobody else has mentioned Phil's. It's at 35th and Aberdeen*, and the thin crust is worth every damn cent. It's also great to listen to the employees. The Port's finest.

I am a northsider, but my wife is from Oak Lawn (Richards grad). For years, every time we were at her mothers, she would order Palermo's. Not a bad pizza, but not my favorite. I had a friend ask if I had tried Phil's. I brought it up one time at the in-laws & they said they used to order from there but for some reason had stopped. After one bite, I proceeded to lay into them as to why were they making me eat Palermo's, when Phil's had been available the entire time. I am not a southside veteran of the pizza world, but Phil's is by far my favorite.

As for the northside, JB's under the tracks on Morse is king.

like yur wife already/also a dog grad.
phil's pizza by far, hands down, is the king of pizza. you cannot beat that sourdough crust, sauce, and overall thickness of this thin crust pizza.
but, if you wanna get real about pizza. (60's/70's) the old lupi's on 111th & ridgeland(now a walgreens) or happy's on swhwy(now a who knows what) mmmmmmmmmdamn good. best pizza know to mankind. but for this era phil's is the winner hands down no debate in this state!!!
anyone who likes cornbread crust is not from this country. sorry northsiders. no lou's.
best deep dish Giordano's.
and for the best pizza puffs grazzanos. gotta get xsauce, dbl sauge, dbl peperoni. I can taste the grease oooozing down the sides of the chin right now... ;)~

Two totally unrelated comments,here:

1) Other than tourists, does anyone actually eat deep dish pizza? That stuff tastes like cardboard (and my apologies to the cardboard industry.)

2)The first time I ever ate pizza outside Chicago was in Denver (1967 ... I know ... I know). I ordered sausage ... and was served a pizza with American cheese and ground beef. This was also a city that served a pint of Coors mixed with tomato juice. (Seriously - it was called a "red.")

godogz:
any idea on Richards schedule?

lemont
chgo phillips
not 100% on 3, maybe just the start of conference play.
then like 7 or 8 tinley park.

I liked the Geneva/Batavia games. but phillips is no slouch. they will get to see some size/speed right out of the gate. should be a very good game for them.
but really hope they are not going back to the cps games for long.
nothing really gained anymore. I used to like the rivalry of the dogs/mopo those games were great.

they scheduled lemont. not part of the crossover.
not 100% who the crossover will be this year however.
but I know they are playing tinley park at some point.

but, mostly last season was playing for this season. they played allot of underclassmen for the experience. so should hopefully be a good season for them this year.

gallina's is way better than sam's. i have the same top 3, but not in that order.

All.... Actually I'm going to have to amend my list somewhat. A coworker told me to try Gallina's. The one owned by Vito Randazzo on Dirksen Parkway. He grinds his sausage fresh everyday. I have had it twice. For overall taste the best in town. Gabby's crust is crispier, and wafer thin which I really like. If you could pair the two together one would have a world class pizza. Vito's ambiance at his place is pretty cool as well.... Ratsy
