I am a northsider, but my wife is from Oak Lawn (Richards grad). For years, every time we were at her mothers, she would order Palermo's. Not a bad pizza, but not my favorite. I had a friend ask if I had tried Phil's. I brought it up one time at the in-laws & they said they used to order from there but for some reason had stopped. After one bite, I proceeded to lay into them as to why were they making me eat Palermo's, when Phil's had been available the entire time. I am not a southside veteran of the pizza world, but Phil's is by far my favorite.
As for the northside, JB's under the tracks on Morse is king.
like yur wife already/also a dog grad.
phil's pizza by far, hands down, is the king of pizza. you cannot beat that sourdough crust, sauce, and overall thickness of this thin crust pizza.
but, if you wanna get real about pizza. (60's/70's) the old lupi's on 111th & ridgeland(now a walgreens) or happy's on swhwy(now a who knows what) mmmmmmmmmdamn good. best pizza know to mankind. but for this era phil's is the winner hands down no debate in this state!!!
anyone who likes cornbread crust is not from this country. sorry northsiders. no lou's.
best deep dish Giordano's.
and for the best pizza puffs grazzanos. gotta get xsauce, dbl sauge, dbl peperoni. I can taste the grease oooozing down the sides of the chin right now...
