Klubnik had impressive stats because the Clemson offense runs a lot Jet Sweeps and RPOs that count as passes. The receivers get YAC and the QB gets credit for it. Yes, Klubnik had a little over 1000 yds in passing than Sellers, but it took him around 200 more passes to do it. His yds per pass was over yard less than Sellers. Yes, we had training wheels on with Sellers early, but the man had not played and was throwing to receivers that were thrown together from the portal.
An RPO is a hand off, doesn't count as a pass unless you throw it to the wr. The jet sweep can count as a pass, but I think you are exaggerating their use of it. All qb's follow these same rules, and get benefits of YAC.
He had much better stats, I just feel its based at least partially on his conference, which helps him. He had a better qb rating, but again, I think his competition had something to do with it.
And I still feel it will depend on his OL. When he was pressured, he ran backwards and made more mistakes than normal qbs should. When he had time, he threw very well and was very effective.
